Good for her! That's quite impressive. I doubt it would have the same effect on male pattern baldness but perhaps it would at least thicken it up a bit?

Also, do a lot of you guys (and girls) on this board eat a lot of iron? I'm kind of interested in the demographics. I know I don't eat a lot, though I do eat a lot fruit.

No one on here is going bald from lack of iron. :shakehead:

Anecdotal at best, but before my hair loss(at 26-27) I actually ate iron food rather religiously and I had a f*****g mane then. Then I discovered I was lactose intolerant and a lot of the stuff that I was eating and had iron I ate with milk(you guessed it, iron enriched cereal like Cheerios).

Like I said, this is anecdotal and I haven't tried to see if this might be somehow related.

This can be a more apparent problem in women due to periods and low iron levels thanks to blood loss.

True, it does seem to be more common with women. I wonder if that does have a correlation with your hair loss too. As for me, I have always been a heavy consumer of meat with little to no vegetables. Last year I was suspecting my hair thinning was possibly due to low testosterone but my blood tests came back normal except for low iron. I never thought anything of it then but I am wondering if it has a slight affect now that I read this article.

s.a.f-Somehow I knew your pessimism would find it's way to this thread. :)
and for the record, again i'm not blaming male pattern baldness on low iron. I'm just simply wondering if a more iron-enriched diet could thicken up the hair a bit and aid the big 3.

The thing is you can't maybe not just add iron and then wham, you have the hair of a lion(unless you are one, then disregard hairloss and acquire meat). Eating meat, especially red meat, increases cholestrol in blood and blood pressure which can be detrimental.

i eat far less meats than I used too now. These days I mainly eat turkey and fish for my protein because it aids well with working out. I want to do another round of p90x but I know body builders have problems with losing hair and I'm a bit afraid of increasing more testosterone and losing more hair.
