I am new to this site and relatively new to hair loss. I turn 18 on Jan 26 2009. I have a 23 year old brother who started thinning at my agee. I have become obsessed with hair loss for about 1/2 a year now. My mom and dad tell me that I have great hair, (and thick) but i think that they just want me to feel good. I have always noticed how it seems like people could grow hair faster than me. I have always had short hair, black and very straight. I definitely have a naturally high hairline. Some hairstylists tell me I have fine thin hair, while some have said that i have thick hair. but all of them have said I have had good hair. When I ask them if it looks like a have a receding hairline, they all say no, definitely not, just a big forehead. my brother, who is an expert on hairloss, says that i have a high hairline but good, thick hair, saying its about a 5 out of 10 for thickness. I have an obsessive personality so i tend to dwell on these things. Lately, though I have been noticing that when I spike my hair i can see my scalp. When i spike it up, i see lots of white. i see more scalp then i used to. maybe this is because i am paying attention to it. when i see other people's hair, esp those my age, it seems like they dont have this problem. I have begun on a regimen of supplements for 2 months (Gnc mens ultra nourishair, MSM, and fish oil ) as well as shampoo (nizoral 1% 3 X a week, jasons thin to thick organic shamp and conditioner 4X a week. as well as drinking tons of green tea and sleeping some nights with coconut or jojoba oil in my hair. I want to have amazing hair for about 5 years until intercytex comes around. Heres my genetic history:
Dad- thinned early, but 3/4 a head of hair and pretty thick for 55 yr old
Grandpa (dads side) - once wavy hair, bald very early
Uncle 1 (dads side) - thin, very bad head of hair
Uncle 2 (dads side) - thick, but horshoe hairline
Grandpa (moms side) amazing thick hair until death
uncle 1 - (moms side) receded early, still has most hair though its quite thin
uncle 2 (moms side) very thick, great full head of hair in 40s
uncle 3 (moms) full head of medium hair until 40's, then diffuse hair loss
mom (if it matters) very very thick hair
Could you give me any advice for my regimen or comments?
