Hi All,

PORQUE…. PORQQQUUUEEEEEEEEEEE?? [add dramatic voice trailing effect]
(For my non-Hispanic speaking brothers, porque means “Why/How†-> “Why Me?â€)

Okay, you probably think that I am a mentally retarded psychopath, but please take a moment and glimpse through my life that is currently taking a wrong turn.

About Me:
22/M/East Indian - California, US

1985 - 2005
Happy Normal Life. During this period, I have healthy black thick straight hair. In my later years, I had mild Seborrhoeic dermatitis -> very itchy scalp. Scalp itching was gone by age 20 with help of Head & Shoulders.

April 2006-May 2006
I notice that my hair is dryer and brittle than usual. I start noticing few long hair strands falling here and there.

June 2006 - July 2006
Still healthy hair, but shedding has been going on for many months. I had been shampooing everyday with Head & Shoulder, and decide to switch to Nexus Therappe Shampoo & Nexus Keraphix Conditoner.

August 2006 - September 2006
Starting early August, I have a MAJOR stress/depression from work & school. Lost 15 lbs of weight.

Shedding rate still minimal but steadily increasing. Shedding has been of “thick & long†jet-black hair. Half of my fallen comrades have a very distinguishable yellow/white “bulb†on the root. Hairline is steady, but scalp hair density is diminishing. Also, notice a dime size bald spot on crown.

October 2006 - End October 2006
Shedding rate increases dramatically. Notice a lot more of the *bulbs* on almost every single hair strand that falls out. Anyway, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, and I conclude that I have male pattern baldness like my father. I start hair treatment with Rogaine Foam (2x/day), Dutastride (Veltride) (1x/day), and Nizoral (3x/week). Veltride tastes like crap, but regardless I still take it. After 2 weeks on this treatment, my scalp becomes VERY ITCHY AND RED. I start getting blisters and pimples on my scalp that ooze blood when touched by a comb. Due to these sides, I stop all three treatments and decide to combat my male pattern baldness later.

November 2006 - End November 2006
Notice tons of *thick/strong* hair falling. What still amazed me is that my hairline density is almost the same and vellus hairs growing outwards! Most of the hair that is falling out is from top of scalp, but side hair is also coming out. Also, I’m easily able to pull out chest/pubic hair. All of these pulled hairs have a 100W Light bulb attached at the root. I decide that having hair is more important then an itchy/bloody scalp, so in mid-November I get back on the Big 3 (Rogaine/Veltride/Nizoral).

December 2006 - Present
In early December, my stress levels were at their pinnacle because I was worried about failing an important college class. BOOOM - December 5 - I find out I passed my class.

All stress eliminated. I feel awesome….. until I look in the mirror. WHAT?!? ….Why can I see through my scalp…. Even though it is completely dry?? Looks aweful. To top it off, one of the girls at work remarked, “Get married before you loose all your hairâ€. That completely devastated me.

Anyway, ever since I started the big three I have noticed that I am not loosing as many long hairs anymore but still loosing tons of shorter hair. Currently here is the breakdown of the VISIBLE hair loss *groups*:

40% - Very SHORT/TINY/THIN hair strands. These tiny vellus strands are no longer than 1-2 mm in length and barely visible in width. They are VERY tiny and squiggly/ziggy. I can count AT LEAST 50 tiny hair strands on any given day on my work desk

40% - Terminal & THICK SHORT hair. 0.50 cm - 2.00 cm. They have the same texture and width as my NORMAL hair. I know that these are NEW hairs that are falling out again. Why are these poor thingies dying AGAIN? One interesting observation that I noticed about these hairs is that about 20% of them have a blonde shaft near the root. Usually if they have a blonde shaft near root, they are accompanied with a light bulb. How come?

In addition, about 80% of these hairs are NOT tapered. They are thick both at the root & at the end. The rest are still thick at the root, but thinner near the end.

20% - My longer thick black hair. About 1-2 dead on the pillow everyday, roughly 5 casualties when I’m brushing & applying minoxidil/tricomin. More than 30 when when applying nixoral/t-gel. Some of these also carry the bulb but not the blonde/yellow shaft.

I’ll post some wet & dry pics up later tonight.

3 Months Observations on Big 3 (Veltride (Dutastride)/ Rogaine Foam (minoxidil.)/ Nixoral

1. Scalp hair is thicker but still falling.
2. My hair line has receded a little but still stable & high density. The hair behind hair line (about 1 cm) has extremely low density so it looks really awkward.
3. The Veltride that I’m taking tastes really horrible… As soon as I’m done with my 3-month supply I’m switching over to Genuine Avodart.
4. Every morning & night I spend 5 minutes looking for new signs of life behind my hair line. For the past week I’ve noticed few 1-2 mm tiny/thin spurts right behind my hairline -> hoping for many more in the coming future.

Questions:
1. The itching did not come back with my second attempt on the Big 3. However, I have recently noticed blisters and redness on frontal scalp but it is usually minimal and not itchy. I have noticed that applying T-GEL directly to the area spot clears the redness in 1-2 days. Does this mean that my Seborrhoeic dermatitis is coming back?
2. I’m still able to pull out hairs from all over my body, chest, pubic, etc… WHY? Will Dutastride help with this also?
3. Why am I loosing NEW hair? I don’t mind if it was older hair since DHT probably killed them. However, seeing my tiny friends dead on my work desk makes me very depressed.
4. Can shampooing kill hair instantly? The reason I ask this is because when I wake up there is max 1-2 hair strands on pillow. When I begin my shower, I’ll rigorously massage my scalp with water. I’ll notice that a total of 5 long strands come out. I then apply T/GEL or Nizoral. Wait 3-5 minutes… a single LIGHT hand swipe over my scalp will yield 5 hair strands. I can continue doing this until 40 hair strands are out. Why?
5. One interesting observation I noticed recently is that some of my shorter hairs that I lose, (.5 cm - 1.5cm in length) are blond/yellow at the root. YES, the root shaft itself is yellow. These terminal hairs are usually accompanied by a bulb at the root.

In gist, my crown is becoming worse but my temples and hairlines are still fairly stable. I don’t believe that my hair is thinning but I’ve noticed an enormous loss of hair density, especially behind the hair line. And yes, I FINALLY scheduled a Dermatologist appointment for next week <- I wish I did this 6 months ago.

Thank you for your listening and maybe now you know why I’m going mad. I just got Tricomin CP spray and plan on adding the Maxi-Hair vitamins as a dietary supplement.

For christ sakes, you are paraniod as hell.

1. You will always see hairs fall out. My g/f who is a NW0 has hairs fall out. When I was a little kid with pefect hair I had hairs fall out or get stuck on my comb. You never have, and never will stop hairs from falling out of your head from the day you were born to the day you will die.

2. According to propecia.com and howstuffworks.com it takes AT LEAST 3 months for things to start to to work. You are just at the 3 month mark were new hairs will start to grow. You have to wait a couple more months for these hairs to grow out so you can see them. Nobody here will be suprised that you haven't seen regrowth at the 3 month mark, NOBODY.

p.s. You are a lot smarter than my idiot self. Good job on starting so early and using a strong regimen right off the bat with dutasteride.

Did u tell her not to get any more wrinkles so that her bf/husband won't trade her in for a younger, prettier girl?

She probably thinks you are a decent looking guy with confidence, and that joking about your male pattern baldness would be ok because you are confident.

I seriously doubt that if anyone knew your male pattern baldness has devastating your ego, that they would bring it up as a joke. Usually, its the guys who come off as confident that get male pattern baldness jokes.

it sounds so strange to me if a girl would say something like that. It's pretty insensitive. It's like telling a girl she should get married before she gets any fatter than she already is.

Do you think that 99.9% of people give two shits about you or anyone elses feelings? She may even find it funny that it messed with his head.
