so i started nizoral (1%) 2 days ago and noticed ive been having difficulty breathing as if i took a short jog, im not gasping for air or anything, but was wonderng if it is anything serious

i like nizoral so far, makes hair look good, and part of big 3, do i need to stop using it or will it go away? and if i do any good shampoo replacements for it?

i checked under sides effets; "A very serious allergic reaction to Nizoral (ketoconazole) 2% is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction may include: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing."

I very much doubt this has anything to do with Nizoral. Most sides associated with it arise from oral ingestion. Unless you've been drinking your shampoo, this simply won't happen.

If you were allergic to it your primary symptom would be a rash all over your head.

Most likely your breathlessness while running was due to something else. Most probably, you're a bit out of shape.

Anyone what?

If you don't like the effects you're getting, wether they be real or placebo, don't use the product. Problem solved. If not, keep taking it and stop complaining.

PS: I see you're also taking Finasteride, so you have no idea if tha's the soruce of your problems. If you are feeling panicky and short of breath at all times, I'd say that's the culprit since the drug interferes with Allopregnanolone and THDOC neurosteroid production, and GABA-A receptors in the brain -- all of which can lead to anxiety (and panic attacks, which involve shortness of breath). I say this because I experienced this exact problem which manifested during my 11 months of Finasteride use, so can recall what it was like.

Ok well like I said already:

If you think Nizoral is the source of your problems, don't use it. Problem solved.

I'm done with this thread, the original poster is clearly not willing to accept the advice being given.

*Yawn*

There's no need to put things in bold font - I read the symptom list already. The thing you don't seem to be getting is the context.

1. If an allergic reaction were to occur, your primary symptoms would be rash/inflammation and swelling. Trouble breathing would result from swelling in the throat.

2. The above point is why I suggested that unless you ingested nizoral orally, you wouldn't be having breathing difficulties.

3. Regardless of method of application, if you were having an allergic reaction you would definitely have some swelling or rash.

4. Your only symptom is "trouble breathing".

5. Therefore, you don't have an allergic reaction to nizoral.

6. Since these side effects are only experienced through allergic reaction, there is no identifiable cause from nizoral for your issues.

7. Most likely, it's placebo or just some other cause.

I don't think you're necessarily overreacting, I think you're just misattributing what could be a fairly normal occurance for something pathological.

There are plenty of reasons why you could've been short of breath - something you ate, a mild cold you weren't even aware you had, or just low performance in your body at that time. They don't necessarily mean anything.

I'd just carry on, and see what happens. Most likely, this will pass. If it doesn't, stop the nizoral if you really want to be sure. If stopping it makes a difference, then you have your answer - but I really don't think that'll be it.

stop using it... see how you go.

if all is good, then start using it again.

not the other way round!

Hmm... interesting I started Nizoral a about 2 months ago. Im used to walking pretty long distances, due to the fact that Im in college and I spend about 4-5 hours of my day walking around campus. Ever since this semester started Ive noticed that when I walk for a while I start breathing heavily almost as if I jogged or something. Im not saying that its due to Nizoral but I cant help but think.

hey guys,

I'm being lazy here..

i can simply google my question..

but i wanted to ask you guys..

i've read among these threads that ketoconazole has similar side effects to finasteride, in terms of decrease in libido and sometimes can cause depression...

is this true? You guys are probably going to say no. But this is what worries me about ketoconazole. I want to add it to my regiment, but i dropped finasteride because of the side effects and I don't want to go onto something else that causes the same side effects.

has anyone experienced side effects of loss of libido or depression with ketoconazole??
