Nizoral

I experienced negative sexual side effects with Finasteride.

Some people recommend Nizoral. My understand that is that it works in the same as finasteride. So wouldn't I just experience the same side effects?

If anything, I can see the side effects being less severe only because it is less effective.

Have any people had trouble with finasteride, but find that Nizoral does not affect them in the same way?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

They are two completely different things.

Finasteride messes with your hormones, Nizoral is just an antifungal topical, people use it on other places on the body.

You should be fine, but remember that Nizoral benefits are controversial. And in my own opinion, it's not worth using it if you are not going to combine it with at least finasteride or Minoxidil.

Nizoral will maintain a healthy scalp, but won't do much for your hair loss. Look into topical anti-androgens.

Neuromet,

I think you could be right, the negative side-effects of Nizoral are less severe than finasteride, but they do exist as Ketoconazole is a potent drug and some of it is undoubtedly absorbed systematically when using Nizoral shampoo.

http://www.nature.com/ijir/journal/v16/ ... 1160a.html

It does after all inhibit Testosterone synthesis.

I've being suffering sexual sides lately, after I added spironolactone, nizoral and Tricomin to my regimen over a month ago. I dropped spironolactone after a week and Tricomin soon after, but still I am suffering from ED! Not as bad as it was with Finasteride, but still very noticeable.

I'm eating healthily, doing interval training twice a week, going to the gym three times a week and also upping my zinc dosage as Enden recommends, but still no significant recovery.

So either spironolactone has caused a hormone imbalance, or as the study suggests Nizoral is having an effect on my ability to get an erection.

Nizoral won't get absorbed systematically, not in significant amounts anyway, unless you get it in your eyes, nose or mouth. Finasteride is known to cause trouble with the sexual function, which may last long after you've quit using the drug. How much zinc are you using, and how long have you been using it? It takes time to reverse the testosterone/estrogen ratio. Just keep going untill you get cracking joints. If you don't get any better before that happens, you need to investigate other possibilities.
