I find this very interesting.
Several months ago, I noticed that my dog (only 5 years old) was just acting really lethargic and was gaining a lot of weight. I switched her food to a low fat version and started walking her more, but she was having trouble keeping up. And it was hard to get her out every day with my job and the kids (shift number 2). Then she started LOSING HAIR (well, fur), lots of it. Her tail started to look awful, as did her snout. So I took her to the vet, they performed some tests and determined that she has HYPOTHYROIDISM.
Here is the part that is so interesting: After 2 months of thyroxin now (twice per day) she has lost over 10 pounds, is WAY ahead of me on our walks, and her HAIR is completely back. She looks absolutely beautiful/gorgeous because of this little pill, I am not kidding.
It makes me want to demand this drug for myself even though my tests say I am normal. I have had 2 thyroid tests in the past. I have a gyno appt coming up and am wondering if I should try to ask again, or just accept the fact that I have Androgenetic Alopecia and continue in the manner that I have been (which has been doable, I just want a magic cure like Miss Bear!!!).
