Not seeing results - Help!

Hey everyone. First I want to say thanks for all the helpful info on this site. It helped me out a lot in finding an approach to fighting hair loss.

I noticed my hair shedding about a year and a half ago. I used 5% minoxidil for about a year and half, and after all that time I got nothing but baby hairs. Then I started to look into fighting hairloss (including the info on this site), and came up with a routine. In August, I started with Nizoral (non-prescription strength) every other day, 5% minoxidil twice a day and 1.25mg Finasteride (from CVS) once a day. After a couple of weeks, I didn't see any results and increased my Finasteride to 2.5mg.

I'm going on two months on this routine now, and am still shedding like crazy! It's on the same decline as before the routine. Is this normal? If so, when should I start to see the slightest improvement?

Also, my generic pills from CVS will run out soon (about 10 days from now), so I got generic Fincar. It seems that authentic Fincar is good stuff. Does the Fincar I got look legit (the generic CVS pill is on the left, the Fincar I got is on the right, I got my Fincar from PlanetDrugsDirect).

Thanks a lot for your responses.

A couple weeks is not long enough. take the recommended 1.25 for and maintain your dosage of minoxidil. finasterides takes months to see results

Exactly you dont lose you hair in a couple of weeks do you? The manufacturers recommend you assess the results after 9 months!

Thanks. So do you think I should go back to 1.25mg?

Any ideas on the Fincar I got?

dave go back on and stay on 1.25mg of fincar a day for one year, then see where you stand.

doubling your dose after 2 weeks is not a great idea as it will take months and months to see results anyway

your fincar looks same as mine, its legit so no worries...good luck and dont stress, ive been on the big three for one year and only really seeing something nearing good results now,and ive seen plenty of people that say you dont really really see results til 14/15 months

Thanks, I went back to 1.25mg. I also started the Fincar from the pictures, so far so good. One thing I did notice is that the Fincar seems slightly "softer" than the CVS finasteride. Somehow, it's a lot easier to split the Fincar unevenly. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this also.

I'm still not sure about when to measure results - I'll be happy when I see that my daily hair loss is decreasing, and that I'm making progress (anyone know when this would be on average?). I know that it will take a while to fill in (if at all), maybe this is what the 9 month approximation relates to. I'll update this thread when I start to see a noticeable reduction in my daily hair loss...
