Noticing something weird

Almost coming up on the one month mark of finasteride, i've had little side effect but i did notice them and it doesn't not bug me at all.

But I have noticed a huge difference in nail, hair regrowth. My nails are growing like crazy, I looked down today and was suprised they needed another trim. Same with my hair, my hair is growing faster than i ever remember it.

Also, Since I am young my chest hair/facial hair have been growing very very slowly (coming in wise) for the past 1 1/2 but now i can notice a difference, it's like dht was slowing down the folical growth on my chest/face. Is this possible?? Am I just imaging all this or do other notice something similar?

i think you might be imagining it cause a few years ago i went through my chest hair growing phase...and i didnt like it.....but around the time you hit 18 or after it just starts to come in faster and darker..although i have found the answer to that question...... NAIR.That stuff works like a champ.

DHT has the opposite effect on body hair that it does on scalp hair. Many people notice a reduction in body hair because of this. I know I did. But if you're on minoxidil, that might even it out as minoxidil can cause body hair to grow more/thicker.

If your body hair is thickening, is probably just because you are becoming a grown man. Not due to propecia.

Matgallis, I am not young and similar thing for me. My facial, chest, pubic hairs are growing slower and coming in "finer", (not as coarse). To me, it makes sense as DHT is a stronger triggering hormone for men for their facial, etc hair growth than just testosterone. Some men respond more or less to testosterone whereas some men respond more or less to DHT levels. That is why some men experience more sexual side-effects by being on DHT..depends on how "your" body is set-up to respond to the levels of chemicals. Roughly, that's how I understand it. Shiney

rate of growth

I noticed since going on minoxidil, especially this last few head shavings (razor) that my hair is growing MUCH faster. AFter four days I had enough hair to dye it...it has sped up all over.

Facial hair was always thick if I let it go, haven't noticed a rate of change there, but the head, DEFINITELY.

This is more or less along the lines of what I believe. different people have a different affinity to different hormones. It's a bit like atheletes, no matter how much anabolic steriods and testosterone a normal person takes it's not going to have the same effect as an athelete with a high affinity to the hormones(won't get the same gains).

Also people respond differnently to all the anabolics and hormones admistered to them. In other words some peoples bodies soak-up some hormone's like a sponge, and might not have such a high affinity to other hormone's. This is why individuals experiment and find whats most suitable for them. I beleive we respond similarly with DHT.

A direct causal (cause-al, not casual) relationship between DHT and body hair has been proven.

Im experiencing the same thing

I am having the same problem. It seems like my hair is growing slower on my face and on my body. I know this because before I used to have to shave everyday and now I can skip a day and my hair facial hair doesnt look as bad.

I dont know if there is a direct link to DHT but I from the looks of things its something that should be looked into.

Also, my side effects that started after I took my first pill have now slowed down and its sendomly noticible.
