I am just about to burst into tears

I had posted a few weeks ago that I went to see a dermatologist, after experiencing hair loss for about 9 months (scalp is visible for the last 3). This was my first derm visit. Anyway, I thought it went ok and he ordered all the bloodwork. Today he calls and tells me that all looks normal, and says I have Telogen Effluvium. At least he admitted "I don't know what is causing your hair loss". I wanted to ask if there was any chance I had Androgenetic Alopecia but he seemed so unhelpful. He said nature would take care of it, that I could use 5% Rogaine. I mentioned that my husband uses it and that he experienced increased shedding. This is when I knew he didn't know what he was saying because he said that this was an unusual response and that most people do NOT experience initial shedding with Rogaine. And, from reading these boards, I know that's bullshit.

So, where does that leave me? I have started on Nizoral, have ordered Folligen and will probably start with Rogaine and take my chances. I can't just do nothing and wait for this to get worse. This is all SO ironic because I've always been known for super thick hair and the stylists always took forever to blow dry it. This is all very sad.

Thanks for listening...

My advice to you is start Rogaine 5%, use it on the thinning areas and apply the folligen 30 mins after Rogaine if possible. Tricomin has SLIGHTLY more clinical data backing it up than folligen.

Maybe this can help, BUT WE DONT KNOW FOR SURE:

MSM 6000MG (Beneficial for hair growth and hair health)
Horsetail (Contains Silicia)
L-Lysine 1000MG
B Vitamins
Flax Seed Oil 1000MG (Can help with hair loss, but take at your own risk Good for hair in general though) Evening Primrose Oil 1000MG (Can help with hair loss, but take at your own risk. They are good for hair in general though)
Nizoral 2% Every 3/4 Days

I have heard of some women(Nothing to back this up, so use at your own risk) having success with the chinese herb FO-TI you might also want to give it a try, you take 6 tablets each day as it is quite a mild herb.

Whatever you do, dont stress, that can only make things worser! Try and sit back, get a grip of yourself.. Start a solid regimen and think positive and you hair will grow back!

You can get all off the above for cheap from http://www.puritanspride.com
(Whether your in UK or USA)

Hope this helps!

Hi Anita,

Stinger had some great suggestions. Give them about 6 weeks to see improvement.

I don't believe you need to take 6000MG of MSM though, I only take 2000MG daily and I believe I am having benefits from it.

Also, have you had your iron/ferritin levels checked? Not to sound like a broken record, but you could be iron deficient. Even those within the low end of normal can experience hair shedding.

Thats unfortunate that the derm wasn't helpful at all, I know how you feel!
