% of people with finasteride side effects seems unrealistic.

well, i just been thinking alot of people have told me on here ther witnessing runny and less semen than before they were on finasteride. u cud suggest with decreased libido etc... that it may just be in peoples heads that ther getting it whn ther actually not. I personally havent really noticed a decrease in libido, but il soon see as i have come off finasteride indefinately.

Anyway its claimed that 2% of people get these sides. at first i thought this was true but now im thinking no way. Im sure the majority witness less ejaculate and runny semen. It directly causes this so i cant see how some people after 2-3 months dont start witnessing this.

As for decreased libido im not too sure about, likei said i havent witnessed this side. But runny semen isnt even on the list of side effects on the majority of sites. Unless it comes into the category of less ejaculate volume.

The people on one website represent a very small sample size. You can't draw conclusions from that. That's statistics 101.

Andrew, you are trying to convince yourself that it is ok to quit finasteride. This may not be a bad idea if you don't care about your hair that much. I seriously doubt finasteride is going to make you sterile/ or give you permanent side effects. Keep on the treatments if you value your hair.

my title is titled rong. lol.

i mean, the % in the studies etc... not on this board!

bsically with all the reading i been doing, finasteride causes less volume ejaculate. its a fact. so for the studies to say that 0.8% witness this side effect. i just cant see how this can be true for example.

seeing doctor tomoz, fingers crossed.

ima post my 3 month update pics up now soon in my story. finasteride or min or both have worked for me, im not denyin it.

I think it is majorly under-reported.. I would like to know the % of side effects for people between 18-35.

I would suspect at least 80% of people to have at least some mild symtoms.. your prostate does shrinking after all.

Yes and also when prescribed for prostate cancer it's at 5mg, not the 1mg for hairloss. If you're worried about side effects or long term problems the comforting thing about all this is that Finasteride has been tested at higher doses and for a lot longer for prostate cancer than it has been for hairloss. It was intially approved by the FDA in 1992 and has therefore been monitored for 14 years at least at 5mg.

in 60 year olds n that its a diff ball game, coz they have other problems aswell, so a few side effects will go missed. for example loss of libido, runny semen etc... they dnt give a sh*t about coz other stuff ther taking will be doing this to them. Anyway there havent been many studeis done in young people atall. 18-45 or whatever they say, but most of them are alot older.

of course it has an affect on the prostate, its a prostate drug.

and yes my point exactly rage.

Propecia makes the prostate gland ecrete wartery semen, so EVERYONE unless there mutated or hardly take the stuff, must exeprience this.

Its a fact that this happens.

Anyways, he suggested that it may be givin me urine infection like symptoms my doctor. Iv had urine and full blood count tests and im perfectly normal. So, must be the pills. il soon see anyway, but i wont rule them out altogether. wel c.

I don't think so in people who don't have BPH and not if you're taking 1/5th the normal dosage or BPH.

It definately effects the prostate at 1/5 of the BPH dosage.

Bryan advises young people with a family history of prostate cancer to take finasteride because it works as a preventative for prostate cancer. So for young people, it's effects on the prostate can be very helpful!

yeh, thats what i thought, me needing a piss all the time etc... i thought this drug wud do the opposite if anything. but my doctor said straight away its the finasteride doing this id say. He said not enough studies have been done in young candidates with healthy prostates etc...

Its all too vague, im not saying stop finasteride. im just saying me personally gonna stop it til i can have that fertility test then il decide from there.

Must say tho in the matter of a week my semen aint as shiity as it was. it looks like its getting back to the p**rn star status i once had ALREADY. but i do beleive il will have to wait for a fertility test to make sure all sides have gone.

There was a study I read about that stated finasteride increases the chances of getting type II prostate cancer, which is more likely to be fatal. I don't have the link, nor the numbers but the chance increase was like 8% higher
