Hey guys,

Don't want to go too far into the debate on whether "reflex hyper androgenism" or whatever is real or bro science, but after 5 years of maintenance I was forced off finasteride for a few months peak covid and got back on full time in October. Started full dosage everyday.

Still shedding pretty heavily, which I expected after such a long break, however this time I have the very red/inflamed scalp, shedding & increase in scalp oil to go with it. and I don't remember if I had this 5 years ago or not. Thinking of letting it exit my system for 2 weeks and starting micro dosing, but undecided. Also thinking of trying alfatrodiaol for a topical.

Anyone experience this? Go away? Products to help ease the itch other then nizoral? Before people tell me that "finasteride doesn't work for some people" as they did on reddit, keep in mind that I've already seen it work for me, and while I might not get back what I've lost in the last 6 months I'm looking to stabilize at least.

Thanks!

If I don't do anything I also get a very oily and itchy scalp.

Start with a cheap anti-dandruff shampoo for men. It can be one that you buy at the supermarket - for example H&S, Linic or Nivea - as long as it has piroctone olamine listed as an ingredient.

You can also try ketoconazole, tretinoin, azelaic acid and salicylic acid.

Don't put oils on your scalp, fungi that cause dandruff and inflammation feed on sebum/oils.

You can also try 1-2 ml of oral castor oil and reduce carbs in your diet.

Thanks for the reply! Do you find more shedding when you don' t treat it?

I actually just got some caster oil, do I just ingest the 2ml?

Definitely, the time I lost more hair was when I was using just minoxidil and my scalp was extremely oily, itchy and inflamed.

  1. Poor blood circulation
  2. Low-oxygen levels
  3. Increase of androgens
  4. Increase of sebum production
  5. Proliferation of fungi
  6. Inflammation
  7. Miniaturization of hair follicles (hair loss)

Sometimes we don't notice inflammation, because it can also happen only at the follicle level (micro-inflammation). However, hair loss is always related to inflammation.

Yes, take 2 ml of castor oil orally everyday, if you notice a laxative effect, reduce the dosage to 1 ml.

Look for Azelac, which is an azelaic and salicylic acid lotion made in Spain, it helped me a lot and now the scalp feels great. If you're in Europe you might find it at your local pharmacy, otherwise you can find it at Amazon or eBay. It's quite affordable.

Exactly, and that's why I'm so concerned. I've lost so much ground in the last few months that it can't be a good sign to get back on finasteride and have this much inflammation, especially when I havnt dealt with it like this in years. I'm just hoping it's not some adverse reaction to restarting that puts my hairloss permanently in overdrive.

I'll check out the product though! I see it on amazon for 20$. Thank you!
