I was only on Propecia for 2 weeks, until I noticed sides (no libido, ED, brain fog). I've been off it for over 3 weeks now and they're still there. Will the sides ever go away? If so, when? How long?

With all do respect....how do you know...personal experience? how long? will it ever come back full force? and why/how did this happen after only 15 days?

I have read lots about it, your sides will go, there are no timelines but I would personally expect things to be back to normal within a month.

That's what worries me...in a few days it will have been a month since I've stopped and 6 weeks since I started. Everday that goes by that I'm not normal is that much more discouraging and makes me believe that if the drug was suppose to wear off in a day or two and now that it's been a month and is still here...makes me think the damage has been done and it's permanent. I hope i'm not right and like you say it comes back to normal.

any thoughts?

Every day that you over analyse it you will put pressure on yourself, this will in turn make the situation worse, just know that it will get better soon, good luck.

If all my tests came out within range then what the hell can it be??? it's been ove a month already and no sign of recovery! Anybody know which hormones are directly related to your libido or ED??? SHBG? T-Levels? Free T-Levels?

Ok, so I unfortunatley STILL have these sides (ED, and NO libido) I had them for a month...then for 2 WEEKS! I returned to normal....now, it's been 2 MONTHS and they are still here. Anyone else experience this?!?!?

If your hormones are normal, then it's in your head.

Sexual performance and libido are absolutely dependent on your psychology.

Relax :)

1. Your two week recovery/crash thereafter, after quitting the drug is a common story among some men (like me) that end up having problems after Finasteride. It is still early days yet, however, so no need to panic... give yourself a few months at least.

2. Please post reference ranges beside your tests.

But looking at them I'm guessing its an issue of elevated SHBG, which is binding up your crucially important Free Testosterone (only 2% of T is in free form in the body, so the less you have bound the better). While both Total and Free T play a role in libido, Free T in particular is critical to have unbound as much as possible so that it is available to your body for such purposes. Free T should generally be in the upper 3rd of the range.

3. Unfortunately some guys on Propecia experience elevated SHBG and this can cause problems. There are natural supplements which claim to lower SHBG:

- Muira Puama
- Avena Sativa (green oats extract)
- Stinging Nettles (also a DHT inhibitor)

I'd try Avena Sativa first. Here is a post by a user with positive results:

4. Your Prolactin also seems to be creeping up there, LEF.org lists optimal range for men as no higher than 5.

Drugs to lower Prolactin:

- Cabergoline (Dostinex)
- Bromocriptine

Naturals:

- Chasteberry (Vitex)... unsure about dosages/efficacy.
- Mucuna Pruriens

5. If all else fails read the FAQ on propeciahelp.com, read the forum, read the STUDIES and learn. You are not alone in this.
