Only 20 years old. Erectile Dysfunction? Propecia?

Hi guys. Ive been on Propecia for about a year and 2 months now. A year ago I was sat down by a hair loss dr, his name was Dr. Leonard who lives where I do in Boston, MA.

Anyway, would I say it has helped my hair loss? I would like to think so. I've been using rogaine with this pill for a while now. I would like to think it was helping, but ive gone through good patches where my hair looked great and bad patches where it just didn't look so good. Now a days it's leaning on not looking so good as it has.

Anyway, I am only 20 as of october 2nd and I am concerned because I read and saw videos of all these guys talking about how propecia causes sexual problems and it's irreversible and don't use the drug and never risk taking it and ive lost my ability to get erections for life and all that stuff. Now being that it has been a year now, I would say that ive had no issues getting hard or any of that. But I started to notice now in October around this month that its been getting alot harder for me to get erections, and my morning erections are pretty much gone.

Now I don't know if part of it is mental as in it's just me being paranoid and believing what im thinking. But there has been a few times now where me getting hard has been a task, and I could still ejaculate but it felt to me like it was very soft, not as hard as I used to be. Now knowing this and me being 20 I freaked out. And it has been about 4 days of me not taking this pill. I would say my erections have gotten better, but I still don't have morning erections anymore. I am very concerned that I am going to have permanent sexual problems. Am I over reacting? What if I am experiencing un fixable side effects? From the moment I started taking this pill until now a year later in october I say the problems have started just this month.

I'm very scared about this, and it's hard to just talk to my parents about this because they are unaware and it's a hard topic.

What do I do? If I stop will my hairloss get really bad? I'm scared. :(

I went through the same thing as you and I have some advice. I had 2 transplants because I thought that shaving my head would look like crap. So I went ahead and got the transplant and wish I hasn't because when I shaved my head I looked WAY better than I thought I would. I thought I'd look like a chemo patient but I actually looked younger than I was.
Fast forward to today, I now have a strip surgery scar so I cannot ever shave my head again. I'm now commited to using these toxic chemicals that mess with our d*** . And my opinion is that Rogaine messes with erections too.
So please shave your head and see if you can get used to it. Many of my friends have shaved heads and have awesome hair when they grow it out.

That.

There have been a number of threads backing that the sides are not permanent. You can lower the dose temporarily with no issues, try taking 0.5/0.25 mg a day, or taking 1 mg eod, lots of users believe this works. Good luck!

But there's a study that shows even at .25 it is just as potent so the sides would be the same.

BTW, are you also using minoxidil/Rogaine?

this is an old one, check it out:

http://www.hairlosstalk.com/interac...6-Lowering-Finasteride-Dosage-No-Side-Effects

I'm coming from another website in which a doctor prescribed finasteride not by taking it eod, nor e2d, etc. But taking 1mg in the following schedule: Monday, Wednesday and Fridays and claimed excellent responses. I'm no doctor, but even if these practices seem unorthodox by playing with the hormones and stuff I think in the end is all about self-experimenting.

I had constant ball pains so I decided to reduce the dose to 1mg eod for 15 days, and jumped back to 1mg every day afterwards. Thankfully, it worked for me.

DHT is in the body for a reason. By reducing it theres going to be imbalances elsewhere, aka domino effect. A lot of people on this forum go above and beyond to defend finasteride as if they've bought stock into it, or work for Merck. But it's obvious this stuff causes physiological problems.
This is why I would always say to anyone losing their hair to shave it and let it be. You will be much happier you did.

Perhaps it's just the rise in estradiol behind all the problems? Low DHT can be compensated with high T. You have other androgens in your body besides DHT. The whole endocrine system really doesn't depend on it.

I don't have 0.5 or 0.25 mg a day right now just 1mg capsules. So taking it Mon, Wed, Fri would fix my worries? I am willing to try it if it means keeping my hair. :/

Yes I am. Every day, also going to be adding Regenpure to my regimen. What's scaring me is all this scare of this finasteride. I don't want to have my man parts all in wack.. me being 20 and all. It's terrifying.

So does that mean I should get back on the pill? I don't want to hinder my chances of keeping my hair.. This is a tough one. Any help by anybody would be appreciated, I just want what's best.

No. Wait to see what Merck has to say for its defense and for more studies to come out to see what's the exact mechanism of erectile dysfunction, if that's the only thing you're worried about. There are other hormones that are produced by the 5ar2 enzyme, though, which you also might need.
Actually, even a rat study says that it doesn't cause erectile dysfunction, but only shrinks the penis.

I did tons of research but for me I was only worried about cognitive effects. I knew the permanent ED stuff/dick losing inches was a load of rubbish.
