How long where you on it?

Was there any shedding or scalp issues?

Did your hair loss and hair quality worsen?

Where did you get your finasteride and dosage used?

I hope to get feedback so I can make a good judgement to quit finasteride and this thread could be useful to others going through the same thing.

I been on finasteride going on 9 months - irritated scalp and hair loss to a diffused state and crown is very bad. Prior I was using Minoxidil and maintained hair - scalp coverage was good but now very bad after finasteride. I feel I am a bad responder to finasteride. I have never shedded so much hair in my life.

It would be dumb to give up at 9 months, given you aren’t suffering any side effects of course. What I would do is at least take it for another year, this way you can rest assured it didn’t work and not ponder on the thought of “maybe I didn’t take it long enough” and end up starting all over.

How long have u been on it? Some arent good responders. I have not seen any improvements but more scalp and miniaturization. Ppl on forums saying finasteride does cause shedding but medical doctors says it doesnt do this. What is stupid is to believe bro science on the internet when a drug isnt working and causing worsening symptoms and being told to keeping using it.

From my observation good responders to this drug happens to see the results within first several months but those who arent good responders dont see this and be at the same state or progressively worst.

It seems people who are bad responders just have particularly dht sensitive follicles.

I’m a below average responder, it slows my hair loss down. I took a break for the holidays so I haven’t taken a dose in about 2.5 weeks but I’ll be getting back on this Sunday.

I rather take propecia and know that my hair loss will be slowed or come to a halt, it helps day to day knowing I’m not letting my natural male pattern baldness genetics destroy me, I’m supposed to be bald right now but I’ve managed to hold onto my nw2.5 since I got on finasteride in 2016

As you age the sensitivity forever increases probably overwhelming the drop in DHT eventually that is the body does not compensate somehow. You just have to use it forever and be consistent. Its a life long war. Its amazing how many people quit after a short time or a year. Why even bother if your not committed? especially if its working. If it worked for 10 years why on earth would you stop? Its all for nothing if you quit. No different than a birth control pill women have been taking for decades that alters hormones.
Threads like this wont help anyone else. Nothing really predicts how someone else will react or how their male pattern baldness will change over time.

Well you assume it's working...there's a guy who took it for 3 years and well documented thread with pictures on here and still losing hair. This thread is about non responders. We know there are people who respond quite well to finasteride which is good for them.

You would think labeling a thread:
Only To Bad Responders Of Finasteride/Propecia
You would only get bad responders but inside getting thread hijack by pro finasteride nazis ffs lol

Been on 1 year now, 1 pill per day. Hairline only receded slightly but the whole top is far more diffuse (i wasn't even concerned about the crown when I started.) Irritated scalp but that might be the minoxidil. I am now nearing the point where my balding is going to become noticeable very soon if it hasn't already. Granted, I'm 34 in a few weeks so can't complain too much I guess. Will be adding micro needling and RU this month. I really don't want to have to get dutasteride.

Same here my top is far more diffuse and especially the crown this was not the case prior to finasteride. My scalp is irritated (itchy and burning feeling) and i been off minoxidil little after starting finasteride so it should be out my system as i read that it can take up to 6 months for minoxidil to be out of the system and i been on finasteride going on 9 months (i know its not minoxidil causing the scalp issue)....the hair loss became rapid and scalp irritation for me started at 7 months into finasteride...read some had induce telogen effluvium from finasteride and again non responders of finasteride who have this should quit...i'm seriously thinking about quitting...initially i seriously contemplating whether to replace min for finasteride and i jumped on finasteride and now im regretting that decision
