It seems as is if I inherited my mom's hairloss genes. All of my cousins on my mom's side (between 18 and 22) have Norwood 3 hairlines, and I think I'm heading towards the same fate. Can I take propecia to prevent a Norwood 3? Also, is it safe for me to start taking it as a 17 year old?

Your hairline definitely changed. I would say ride on minoxidil for a while and if you keep losing hairs in 3-4 months, then add finasteride as well.

You've probably just had a shed, but yes your hairline looks like its changed. Hair doesn't completelly disapear that quick it should grow back again just maybe not as thick and strong. Keep an eye on it and try minoxidil it should stop it dead in is tracks and give you a little regrowth. I'd wait a while before jumping on the propecia band wagon. That stuff messes with your hormones, which you dont want as a growing man. Procecia works more effectivelly for crown and vertex anyway. So its not very effective in regrowing hair at the temples, it may slow it down however. I'd wait till you were 20/21 but if you cant wait this long start at 18.

Re: Hairline changed within two weeks

I doubt it's a shed at this point, considering how all my cousins' hairlines receded around my age.
BTW I'd rather take a pill once a day, than have to go through the hassle of minoxidil. And I'm probably going to have to take propecia anyways, since minoxidil isn't a DHT blocker, right?
What are the specific concerns for me taking propecia at a young age?

Also, where should I get the Propecia? I was thinking of getting it from pharmacy2home.com, but the prices are too good. Has anyone had success with that site?

Re: Hairline changed within two weeks

Every hair that sheds regrows again even for people balding. The difference is that people balding will regrow thin vellous hairs as a posed to normal terminal hair. This was what i meant.

Minoxidil is a stimulant not a dht inhibitor so your right. Minoxidil just strengthens the existing hair enabling it to grow thicker but does nothing to stop the root of hairloss dht.

The risk is your growing into a man and you want to take a pill that inhibits the hormones necessary for completing this phase of puberty. Did you know that the same hormone that causes baldness protects men from developing gynocomastia, the medical definition for boobs. Dht is also responsible for the devolopment of sex organs, body hair, facial hair, muscle devlopment and is even believed to play some imporant role in the brain.

Its up to you what you want to do. Im sure a doctor will tell you to wait till your 18 but bare in mind if you take this drug you could be risking permanent damage of which you may not recover from.

Alright, thanks for the advice. I will wait then. Hopefully my hairline doesn't recede to fast.

Hard to tell. The before are taken from a different angle making it look like there is more hair. Plus in the irht one you are not pulling your hair backwards in the before pic.
