Oral ketoconazole?

Apparently here it says that generally it is safe to use. I figure it might be as well since some have used oral spironolactone.

Besides possible erectile problems, what side effects can one expect? Are there any dangerous effects?

True erectile problems are pronounced as such high dosages, but perhaps a lower dose might be in order? Might it have a good effect on hair without devastating sexual sides?

Has anybody here used this? I know a few people here have tried oral spironolactone, how does it compare?

Analgesics and topical agents ineffectively inhibit painful erections after penile and urethral surgery. Oral ketoconazole reversibly inhibits testosterone production and has been used empirically at our institution to decrease postoperative erections. We performed a retrospective review of 38 patients who had undergone penile and urethral reconstructive surgery. In all, 31 patients received 400 mg of ketoconazole three times daily for 10-14 days postoperatively (the study group) and seven patients did not receive ketoconazole (the control group). The incidence of postoperative erections, pain, side effects, surgical outcomes and patient satisfaction in each group were compared. Of the control group, 71% reported erections in the immediate postoperative period, and all these patients reported the erections were painful. Only 23% of the patient taking ketoconazole reported postoperative erections, and only 16% reported the erections were painful. We conclude that ketoconazole effectively prevents painful postoperative erections with minimal side effects.

1) yes this will stop hair loss in most men.

2) each person needs to adjust their dosage.

3) increase dosage if hair loss continues.

A lot of other medicines cannot be taken with oral ketoconazole as it increases potency, watch out for that.

Do not interpret this to mean you should take oral keto.

the graph shows the binding of HDHT, not DHT, to some protein. Not sure if SHGB is the androgen receptor or not.

So DHT competes with HDHT for the protein. As you can see, DHT is much more competitive than Keto for that protein. It is 10000x as competitive as Keto, and 10x as competitive as estradiol.

We need to find out if SHGB is the androgen receptor. If not, this graph means nothing to us. If so, it means nizoral does not block the androgen receptor at all, except in very high concentrations. The concentration int eh bottle is 10 ^ -2 M. The concentration in the scalp is probably a lot lower than that.

this is not the androgen receptor. It is the protein in the blood that estogen and testosterone bind to for transport.

I don't know why he called this "oral keto". This graph is irrelevant to balding.
