I'm interested in it because of it's ability to stop peroxynitrite formation too. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32455532/

The direct toxicity of nitric oxide is modest but is greatly enhanced by reacting with superoxide to form peroxynitrite (ONOO-). Nitric oxide is the only biological molecule produced in high enough concentrations to out-compete superoxide dismutase for superoxide(ME:meaning SODase isn't going to provide complete protection so ya better look for other things too)

The interaction between NO and superoxide depletes NO bioactivity and is functionally important because NO is a pivotal mediator of key vascular functions, including regulation of smooth muscle tone and blood pressure, platelet activation, and vascular cell signaling

Dosages of up to 5-10 grams per day of taurine are considered safe. I've taken 3 grams for years without complications but it will not do anything at those levels for hair growth. Higher doses must be used..

10 grams per day was taken for 6 months with mytonic dystrophy patients.

Taurine deficiency as a driver of aging

Singh et al. found that the amount of the semi-essential amino acid taurine in circulation decreased with age (see the Perspective by McGaunn and Baur). Supplementation with taurine slowed key markers of aging such as increased DNA damage, telomerase deficiency, impaired mitochondrial function, and cellular senescence. Loss of taurine in humans was associated with aging-related diseases, and concentrations of taurine and its metabolites increased in response to exercise. Taurine supplementation improved life span in mice and health span in monkeys. —L. Bryan Ray

In a preliminarystudy, high-dose oral administration of __12g_ taurine elevated the plasma concentration above 0.3mM and completely preventedstroke-like episodes in two patients with MELAS for more than9 years.

Oral administration of taurine to patients withA3243G-MELASTaurine powder was orally administered three times a day, after a meal,( 4 grams each time x 3= 12 grams they used) to two patients with A3243G-MELAS at adose of 0.25 g/kg/day(if you weigh 100 kg that is 25 grams)(so these women only weighed 48 kilos). This corresponds to the maximaldose previously employed for Japanese patients with biliaryobstructions (13).

I think I’ve bought bags of taurine powder & my thoughts are: I didn’t notice any significant difference. Now Nitric Oxide is a big topic & Ive tried several different supplements… It does increase blood flow but again not something I rush to take daily
