Hi guys, use to be a member on this site many years ago.
Started noticing hair shedding at 18.5 years old, grandad was completely bald at 22, dad very thin at 25 so figured I was suffering the same fate. Jumped on finasteride 6 wks before I turned 20 (1/4 proscar) and now 38.5 years old.
managed to maintain undetectable hair loss with minimal sides - maybe slight gyno but not sure as it could be fat.
pretty much forgot about my hair loss and haven’t visited any forums for years. I don’t want to be on finasteride for all my life but It appears there’s been very little progress on new treatments? finasteride and minixodil still are the only approved treatments?
although finasteride has worked for me, if you’re <20 my advice is to hold off taking it as long as possible. When I look at photos of me at 20 i was still a kid. Try shaving it off and try to forget about it. It’s a long term commitment and there’s plenty of time to start treatment.
