good morning

I’m new to this thread and started to notice some more hair loss than usual. I’ve always had a very thick head of hair but recently have had some significant life events that I’m wondering may be causing me to shed hair and curious if treatment would even work or if this is temporary due to stress. Not only am I (I think) losing hair from my head but also from my chest/other area of my body (my bed sheets have some hair on them in different parts where I lay (not large clumps just random strands)

And I’m wondering if anyone has had any experience with the following:

Is there a correlation with pain and hair loss? I played rugby for many years (I’m 33) and last year I threw out my back. I’ve been hospitalized twice for intractable pain and am scheduled for a lumbar fusion next month. I take narcotics and muscle relaxants daily- is there a correlation between those meds and hair loss? I’m wondering if my body is spending a lot of energy fighting inflammation that it’s impacting my hair growth. I also have some difficult life events (my mom is battling stage 4 cancer, I just had a baby boy with some health challenges and we are in an expensive lawsuit over the home we bought with undisclosed defects)

Essentially I’m wondering a) is this reversible when stress and pain are reduced b) if treatment helps with this type of hair loss. I’d like to keep what I have! Would you start treatment if you were me?

Here are a few pictures. I’m 33. I have one older brother with a full head of hair and another with thinning on top

You never know if its due to stress or simply androgenic alopecia. It could be one or the other or both. If I were you, I would start with microneedling plus minoxidil plus perhaps finasteride immediately. Stop taking any of these if you are experiencing side effects. You have to eliminate your stress factors. Hairloss is one of them.

I wish you all the best that life gets right for you again.
