Painfully dry head?

After 7 months on the "big 3" with very little side effects I was happy with the results, no further hair loss and slight regrowth on hairline.

But now, my head is painfully dry. When I say painfully dry I mean It is sore to touch. When I apply minoxidil foam it feels like i'm putting pure acid on my head, it burns like hell. I shave my head and I can see all the dry skin, my head looks white with dry skin.

It's strange as I always had a oily scalp and have never suffered from dandruff or dry scalp.

I use Nizoral 1% every other day (even that stings now). Also I use tricomin, strangely it was as soon as I added tricomin to my regime my head became very dry.

Anyone else had this and no how to get rid of it? something like Emu oil??

I wash my head one to two times a day. Everytime I shower basicaly.

I use Nizoral every other day and AC copper peptide shampoo every other day.

The strange thing is I've not changed it for a good 7 months. Only thing I added was tricomin.

I think it is the Nizoral. I use Propecia, Minoxidil, and Nizoral 1%. My head also became very dry when I started on Nizoral. When I ran out of Nizoral for a week or so it got better. I only use it 3/week. Try cutting the Nizoral back to 2-3/wk.

It did cross my mind, the Nizoral. Like a lot of things if you use too much it has an adverse effect.

I have never suffered from dandruff, then I start using a Anti dundruff shampoo every other day and after a while I develop dandruff!

Crazy, I'll give it ago and let you know the outcome.

Cheers

Just to let you know, it's not the nizoral, I have left it alone for 2 weeks and head is still really dry.

The next thing to eliminate is Tricomin, It was when I started tricomin the dryness happened.

Has anyone reported a dry head from Tricomin?

I should just go the doctor, I know.

i immediately would have blamed the nizoral as you seem to be using it too much (EOD is overkill). but since you've ruled that out .. hmm

the fact is, you're putting a lot of chemicals on your head daily and maybe your scalp just needs a break?

minoxidil, nizoral, tricomin, and CP shampoos .. it's a lot.

Also washing your head twice a day is not going to help. Once a day at most. Do you shave your head? I have mine buzzed and I wash it 2x-3x a week. Alternating between Nizoral + Revita. The rest of the time its just water. Have done for 8 months, never had any dry scalp problems. I also drink plenty of water, maybe that helps..

if it was me in your situation, I would drop everything (even shampooing) until it got better. Yes, you're off your treatments for a while, but it's not going to make *that* much difference is it? But having a painful, dry scalp isn't exactly a breeding ground for healthy hair either.

anyway, good luck, hope it gets better. Let us know eh.

That's good advice flim flam, thanks, the only problem I have is I dare'nt drop all the stuff i'm using for even one day. That's my problem I know but I just stopped using finasteride and minoxidil so I feel like i'm combating all my hair falling out from stopping these meds.

The worse thing is i've now added spironolactone as well. So I do put loads of crap on my head in fear it will all just fall out.

I think I might have to do what you say and just give it all a rest for a like a week. On the plus side I bought some T/Gel and used it last night, this morning is the only morning I woke up without loads of skin flaking of my head so T/Gel could be the way forward!
