This is the patent Mach is referring to:

http://www.google.com/patents/US20140079686

A few things you guys should take notice to:

1) The article has a lot of 'cancelled' remarks. Anyone know what that means?

2) It clearly states 'A method for promoting vellus hair growth in a human subject suffering from baldness'.

3) The device's inventors include Scott C. Kellogg. He works for Follica. His bio can be found here:
http://www.follicabio.com/scott-kellogg

4) At the end of the page you'll find this:
Owner name: FOLLICA, INC., NEW JERSEY

Thanks, yeah they might be going through the motions. I was searching about nitroglycerin. I wasn't sure about posting links.

How the hell did you end up finding that patent from nitroglycerin?

At a dive bar busting out the Google. Looking for blood vessel increase. Came to this. Following the rabbit down the hole. Basically finding way to increase blood and lower trigger points/knots in an injury I have to reduce scar tissue. Thought about hairloss and hit this.

Fluke find, but an awesome one none the less.

Any idea what cancelled means in the patent? Are they not going forward with it?

Not a clue man. It's pretty long. I imagine results are not economically sound? A patent, treatment and a device like that is expensive.

I actually was looking into cold baths for injury. Decrease blood vessels then a warm bath to increase vessel size. Out with the old blood in with the new so to speak. Lots of water to flush.

The patent :"and provides pharmaceutical compositions for use in combination with integumental perturbation for promoting hair growth."
A type of DR's?

Sorta, but read further and it has some kind of cartridge. Notice there is no mention of FGF-9 in the patent as well... perhaps thats why all of its cancelled and its the missing ingredient to terminal hair growth and the need for another 20 million dollars for Follica to run their trials?

FGF-9 was mentioned only a couple years prior to the dermabrasion device. Here's Cotsarelis' patent on FGF-9 and wounding:

https://www.google.com/patents/US20110282267

Notice these parts:

In general, the doses utilized for the above described purposes will vary, but will be in an effective amount to exert the desired effect. As used herein, the term “pharmaceutically effective amountâ€￾ refers to an amount of a FGF9 or other composition for use in the present invention, which will produce the desired alleviation in symptoms or other desired phenotype in a patient. The doses utilized for any of the above-described purposes will generally be from 1 to about 1000 milligrams per kilogram of body weight (mg/kg), administered one to four times per day, or by continuous IV infusion. In one embodiment, a topical daily dose range, in single or divided doses, for the conditions described herein is from about 1 mg to 20,000 mg, more preferably about 2,000 mg to 16,000 mg, and most preferably about 6,000 mg to 10,000 mg of the active components (i.e., excluding excipients and carriers). When the compositions are dosed topically or intraocularly, they will generally be in a concentration range of from 0.1 to about 10% w/v, administered 1-4 times per day. In one embodiment, the compositions for use in the methods of the present invention are administered topically two times a day.

FIG. 1. FGF9 is expressed during inductive period of hair follicle regeneration at Day 1 after scab detachment (SD).

So, looks like you need to wound and add FGF-9 twice a day between 0.1% to 10% concentration.

Basically: wound, create a scab, remove the scab and inject FGF-9 with potentially other stuff and hope for hair. The patent however does NOT state whether the follicles would grow vellus or terminal hairs.

So many promising studies, so many effective treatments and yet they just don't go further and pretend it never happened.

Let me quote hellouser: Fcvk society.

This is great. It shows the details of their invention if you can stomach a 100 page read! They also just updated their website http://www.follicabio.com/ . I have followed Follica for 4-5 years and this is the first overhaul I've seen. It makes me think they may actually come out with something useful. Also, they've got a new video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TN5H01HGaVI#t=34. Haven't watched it all yet.

1) They redesigned their website using Squarespace; http://www.squarespace.com It's a very cheap way of getting a website up and running using a template. Granted they don't need anything complicated, but they didn't exactly go 'all out' on it. I can understand that though, their site doesn't require much.
2) They will come out with something useful.. when is another story.
3) That video is actually OUR video. Desmond84 from BTT recorded it. Follicabio simply shared it. We paid for his trip to go to South Korea and meet attend all the presentations.
