I have been losing my hair for about 6 months now. It progressed over the last 2 months and I don't know what is causing it. I am in menopause now and I have been taking natural progesterone for the last month and a half. I have had my thyroid checked and it's okay. I am using Nisim shampoo and conditoner for about 2 weeks and the loss has slowed some but it's still coming out enough that it's scarying me. Can anybody offer me some guidance? What could be causing this? I should mention I have tender spots on my scalp but I don't see anything in those area's. Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome! In addition to this forum you may want to check our sister site HerAlopecia.com. They are a great community and very helpful. As far as you request for help alot of women use Rogaine to start treating their hair loss but I would also recommend you see your Dermotologist/Primary Phycisian before starting any treatments.

Again, welcome to HairLossTalk.com!

Could be Telogen Effluvium (Telegon effium). Caused by severe stress, sickness or major hormonal changes. Its usually temporary but it can last months. Either that or you have Alopecia which is caused by an immune system disorder where your own bodies immune system, attacks your hair follicles. Its usually temporary but there's no telling how long it will be before your hair returns. You might be able to get something from your doctor for it. Im sure i've heard of treatments that help stop it and get your hair back but i cant remember where. Your best getting a proper diagnosis from hair specialist. I can only speculate without seeing pictures. There are so many things that can cause hairloss.
