please help need advice

hi ive been on proscar for about 10 months at 1mg and 5 days ago i cut down two .5 and am no longer getting any sides...i am booked in to get my temples and front hairline filled up with FUE with dr martinick ...her personal assistant told me .5 should be fine as long as ive been taking 1mg for nearly a year...is he right?? i dont use minoxidil but i will start after the transplant ..i dont wanna use it now cause i want the doctor to fill in the front how it is first then ill use minoxidil..i am a norwood 2.5 and i use nizoral 2% aswell twice a week..1mg of propecia hammered my libido but .5 seems to be better...i dont wanna loose any hair though

I don't see why you'd have to be on 1mg for at least a year to cycle down to half a mg... Studies have shown that you could even go as low as .25mg and still get results. If anything, I believe time will show us that starting at a lower dosage (like .5mg) is better. That way, if you ever develop a tolerance to your Finasteride dosage, you could always upgrade to a full 1mg later to fight it.

So, no I wouldn't worry about going down to .5mg

Took me a while to actually discover what you were asking. I think your asking if its OK to drop from 1mg to 0.5mg of finasteride. I personally wouldnt do this, if you were getting results from 1mg. You could end up having a bad shed, not getting any regrowth and no longer having maintainence. Has your hair loss stabalised? If not it may be a bit soon to be condsidering a transplant.

Im not considering a transplant ..im booked in in 3 weeks ..and yes my hair has stabbilised since starting propecia 10 months ago...hey damian was that you in dr martinicks video??? also would any one know if $6400 australian is a good price for 600 grafts FUE? cause thats how much im paying

1) Use 1mg of Finasteride or dont bother at all.
2) As for the question about cost of transplantation my advice is meet some previous patients of that surgeon. Then decide whether or not its worth the money. If the transplant going to give you the results you want then yes I think that price is reasonable.

thanks brittania ...man these places get confusiing when half the people say .5 will be fine and the rest say take 1mg or nothing ...its hard on me cause i have ocd and i dont know whaqt to fcken do

But the drug Finasteride has been used safely for decades in its 5mg form, so if your trying to suggest that time may revel hidden problems associated with finasteride use then you are wrong. The FDA are not 100% perfect I agree, but for every drug you listed above there at literally thousands of FDA approved drugs being used safely worldwide.
