please offer me some advice (though it may be redundant)

hello.

first thin.
i am so aware and sensitive to my hair falling out, that i can notice or feel a single hair as soon as it touches any part of my body or face.

is it not annoying when a hair dangles off you eyebrow or sticks too your lip?

well, i registered here a while ago, but i am not sure if i am thinning.

here are the facts.

i have always had a hairline like steven seagals or christian slaters ever since i was 13 as far as i can remember. it looks good and normal, but if it receded in the future, i would like sh*t.
so i wear my hair forward because i just don't like my hairline, it is about
an inch deeper than i would like, but the front is fine (almost like a crows peak). my forehead still would not be thought of as big or different, by people.

i have had a christian slater hairline for as long as i can remember.

my right side is thinner than my left slightly.

overall, the top front is thinner (from ear to ear) than the hair on my side or back of my head. (this is normal for most people i think)

i have no thinning in the crown at all.

my girl friend who i have been with sice 18 (i am 26 now) says my hair has not changed at all ( she is a hairdresser )

in any hairstyle i wear, you would not say i have thinning hair or thick hair for that matter, just average

so.

is my hair thinning? has it changed since childhood?
is this just the way my hair has always been? can a doctor tell me if the front hairline has receded a little (i can't tell) or if there are dead hair follicles that once grew hair?

i am happy with my head as it stands, it just is not as thick in hte front hairline i just don't want it to change.
i have no baldness in either sides of my family.

i would like to use a treatment, becuase if i can get regrowth (assuming i HAVE PERMENETLY LOST SOME HAIRS) i want to do it.

minoxidil- scared of the potential chest pains
propecia- will it work on the front as well as minoxidil?

the thickness is ok as long as it stays this way, but if it has receded in the corners?, i want to reverse that.

please help, i know i am rambling all over.

i can lose about 40-50 hairs in the shower max, sometimes.
overall, i am about 80-100 per day.

Your daily shed hairs are within the normal range, IIRC.

I'd say wait until you're sure you've got hairloss, not just a mature adult hairline. Since you've no family history, might as well hold off starting a treatment you may well have to continue indefinitely. Plus your chick's fine with your hair.

If things get worse, my suggestion would be to try using minoxidil once per day (since your loss is minor). Most people don't get sides from minoxidil, and it'd be even less risk using only once per day, or alternatively using 2% minoxidil twice/day instead of 5% if that really worries you. It is an OTC med though, so quite safe for most.

People respond differently to the different treatments. For me, I'd been on propecia for over 3 years and my temples and hairline got worse than ever during this period.
In the last year however, minoxidil has given me decent frontal regrowth and thickening all over. It's saved my *** for sure.

Others think it's best to try propecia/proscar first since it's less hassle to just take a pill every day. And will maintain for many/most guys. I'm biased towards minoxidil due to my own experience. The results it's given me (when nothing else had) make applying twice a day no problem for me.

So I'd hold off for a bit, but if you decide to start treament, I vote for minoxidil. Wouldn't hurt to see a dermatoligist either, though many are apparently clueless about hairloss.
