For couple months I noticed disturbing hair loss during washing head, my hands are literally filled with lots of hair, unlike before.
Almost last month I went to trichologist, she said that there is some hair loss and it is too greasy. I did blood tests and all seems to be fine expect TSH, which is 3.41 (range is 0,27 — 4,20). However she said this is too high and that I should visit endocrinologist. I'm about to go this or next week.

Meanwhile she told me to use special shampoo, peeling and concentrate from MonRin for my hair loss.

Below are some photos of my hair from last month, I think it looks pretty bad with longer and wet hair, doesn't it? Do you think I should be worried about it? It is really surprising since I always had very thick hair and did not expect to start losing hair in mid 20s.

Do as she says and let us know the results.

Seems like trying to hit a nail in to a lump of wood with a feather, but as your early stage it may work.

What she is advocating is a very weak solution and probably wont be a long term solution for you. If you have high levels of TSH then you will more than likely have high levels of DHT in your scalp which is the real culprit here.

I would start on a quarter of a 1mg finasteride tab per day.

So I've been to endocrinologist today and he ordered me to do plenty of blood tests : aTPO, aTG, ANA1, DHT, DHEA-S, Androstenedione, 17-oh progesterone.

If tests will be too high he prescribed me 5 mg finasteride per day, seems alot compared to what you said. I'll wait for DHT results to see if I even need this, but isn't 5 mg per day too much?

Yeah its way too much although he may well tell you to cut it into quarters and have a quarter a day. I wouldn't take the 5mg per day that is castration level.

So your TSH is not really HIGH, it may signal a slight subclinical hypothyroidism but you need free T3 and T4 to back it up. It most likely is not the culprit though-I do think the thyroid is more important than it is given credit for when it comes to hair loss however.

Also plenty of men with male pattern baldness have normal or even low DHT. Running a serum DHT level is not very helpful, nor is 5mg of Finasteride when according to Merck itself they did not see any benefit of this high a dose in hair loss. For prostates it may be needed in order to saturate this tissue. But for serum or scalps 5mg is very slightly more beneficial than 1mg but has more side effects. With hair loss .25mg/day is enough to saturate the tissue to be around 80% as effective as the 1mg dose.

If I were you I would just use Minoxidil. It is great for this area if you are a responder and you need not mess around with hormones.

So I finally had the time to make tests and got the results. From all those listed in previous post only 17-oh progesterone is above scale 3,93 (should be 0,2 to 2,3). DHT is almost out of scale 974,8 (250-990). Is that enough reason to start taking finasteryde?

I started taking saw palmetto and included more food in my diet which is supossed to be natural dht blocker. Is it maybe good idea to go with this for couple months and see if it works without finasteryde?

I would say you should start with a quarter of a tab of 1mg Finasteride. The problem with minoxidil is it can cause an initial shed which can make things a lot worse over a 2-3 month period, you may be lucky but most do shed and there are some like me that never recover from the initial shed. When you start the big 3 known treatments they kind of compliment each other and are more effective when used together. As you don't have serious hair loss I would just take the finasteride as a stabilisation treatment. Saw palmetto is a weak treatment so I wouldn't bother.
