Hi, I started finasteride about 6 weeks ago. My hair is visibly worse than when I started (hairline receding).
I know people say 6+ months to see results, but I think that's more so for regrowth? I was hoping to at least maintain around baseline in the mean time, not to get worse.
Not to mention, I haven't gotten any side-effects yet (thankfully). However, I wonder if there is a positive correlation between getting side-effects and getting regrowth? Please share your wisdom! Thanks.

Yes. Hopefully you are experiencing a beneficial shed.

Are you talking about just on finasteride? I know that you're on some heavier stuff too.
spironolactone, yes stronger and more disruptive to the system but the idea of it being benevolent remained. I take Duta, Provera, Premarin, Climara, Progesterone and oral min. But last year I spent lots and lots on Estrogel and my entire crown to fill in. I have essentially posted copious pics of all the different recovery stages as I passed through them:

Just a heads up, there are multiple accounts of people taking finasteride or dutasteride for years, hoping the shed will stop and hoping for regrowth and after years, they see it not only get worse than before they started, with no thickening, no stabilization, and no regrowth, but they even see permanent accelerated loss due to the drug.
I’d be VERY careful assuming it means “it’s a good thing”. It honestly could go either way...

Just an update (5 months on treatment) (no pics). My shedding is pretty much negligible, which is definitely due tp finasteride as I noticed the shedding stop quite soon after I started treatment. But my hair at the frontal area looks thinner than ever... I will give it another 4 months before re-assessing if I should add minoxidil.
What brand Finasteride medication are you using?
It's a generic brand, "finasta"
