Hello everyone, thanks for taking to time to check out this thread. I’m 19 and I’ve noticed recession ever since around August of last year (was 18 going on 19). I’ve never had a spectacular hairline and always had a sorta big forehead but my hairline has changed. My dad who is 50 denies it but he also has been sitting at Norwood 3 with no thinning since he was 25. While in the shower and out I lose significantly more hair when focusing on the front of my head than the back. For example applying conditioner in the back 1-2 strands. In the front it can get towards 10 a day. It looks thick, but the thing is the hair at the front of my hairline is shorter and not as dark as the rest of my black hair. If I brush down the front I can grab hair from behind it and it will be longer than hair at the front (I got a haircut two weeks ago and the hair in the front hasn’t grown less). I can very lightly tug at hair near my temples and it just comes out. It’s disheartening having this happen to me near the same age it happened to my grandfather and have my whole family tell me I’m crazy and that it’s fine. Just today I noticed a small little hair far down my forehead where my hairline used to be. I put pictures below so please give me your opinions on progression and how screwed I am. Thanks for reading through my experience so far. The first picture is about two months after my 18th birthday.

Dude you have a full head of hair and even still have some of your juvenile hairline left. I know you mean no harm but it is annoying seeing all these people post on here with no hair loss when other people are far worse off. The tiny hairs you are seeing are from your child/juvenile hairline and its not balding. Look at most women's hairlines and you will see the exact same thing. Your hairline is better than most peoples I've seen and if your forehead is big ( which it isn't, its actually normal ). Then mine must be a six head!

You have the sort of hairline no one here is going to reply to.

Most teenage girls don't even have that hairline.

The one piece of useful advice i will give you is just keep an eye on it, take a picture once every 6 months.

Sorry for misusing the forum. I’ve just gotten super self conscious over it recently because of some guys on my team roasting me over it. I’ll refrain from posting further until there’s a real possible issue. Thanks for setting me straight.

He is not misusing the forum for asking our opinion if he is receding. The people who are most dismissive of his concerns tend to be the most obsessive about what others classify as their minor issues...

To the OP you are fine.

I’m posting this so that people think I’m less crazy for this. Here’s my grandfathers hairline at 18. See his corners and hairline. It looks not that bad, nearly exactly the same as mine (my temples are noticeably thinner than my forelock but aren’t completely gone like his). Four years later he was NW5. I don’t have the picture on hand but at 22 he was NW5.

It is always possible in a few years you may have an issue, when you notice a real problem you should start the treatments that are available to us.

You will most likely start receeding and it will be too late by then, drugs are prevention drugs mostly, get on treatments or wait one more year and compare pics.

So you are saying when Pfizer and Merck did clinical trials on Minoxidil and Finasteride they did it on prevention only? I know the answer to the question (NO) but figured since you said it, you knew something I didn't know.

it is common sense

the more damage done by DHT (which, seems to be the trigger for most male pattern baldness) the harder it will be to recover any loss, due scalp fibrosis, hypersebacious gland, general inflammation, prostagladins, and other fuckeries by this nightmare

but here's the fun part: some guys are fine and worsen on finasteride... its a gamble

I have bad news for you man. Your hair is not the problem here. Your eyes seem to be the problem or possibly your brain.

You stated that:

Your forehead is like 5 centimeters judging from the pictures and that is not big, it is quite the opposite, it is very small and your hairline is perfectly square and narrow. Many would kill to have hair like you man.
I honestly shouldn't have posted that picture because it's super deceiving. Keeping my hand above it like that made it look a lot better than it was. Also I hate the argument of "It could be worse and some people would kill for your hairline." It's my self image and I'm not trying to make some "Woe is me" story up here. Flip side tho the criticisms you make probably aren't that wrong I have a knack for developing complexes.
