Problems with my Proscar

Hi,
I started shedding hair about 3 year ago now, I'm 27. I was loosing a lot around the crown, my temples and my hair line was starting to go. It was becoming see through aswell. A nighmare. Last year I decided to do something about it and did a bit of research, I came to the conclusion to start taking.

Proscar 5mg - 1/4 tablet a day Regaine 5% Minoxidil - Morning and night. Nizoral Shampoo - Twice a week

Straight away I noticed that my hair was getting thicker my crown is now great and my temples are back to a state I'm happy with.

Problem is one of the side effects of the Proscar (I suspect it's these) is that I have a little Gynecomastia (b**ch tit). It's not terrible but I do a lot of natural body building and this has hampered me a lot. I have to buy baggy t-shirts and a lot of my clothes I hate to wear now because of it.

Has anyone got any advice? Is there anything else I could take instead of Proscar (to avoid this) but just as effectice? Or is there a tablet that will stop this side effect?

Thank you.

I wouldn't mix hormone drugs. I doubt any doctor would do so. Are you taking any body building drugs that would effect your estrogen levels (including herbals)? You might also want to go get a hormone level blood test.

Yeah I've just read that I shouldn't be mixing drugs. No I don't take anything at all.

I Think I'll make an appointment at the doctors tomorrow see what they have to say but I don't hold much faith in them. I've been in the past for various things and after spending an hour or two on the internet and then speaking to them I feel as if I've more knowledge on the subject.

You might actually know more. Internists need to know about everything, so their knowledge in any one area may not be that complete. The one thing you don't have access to is a lab. If you can get a doctor to write a prescription for a blood test, then insurance should cover it (if you have insurance). It may only cost $60 but you need to talk to a lab to get the real figure. LabCorp is a testing agency where I live, and they should be able to tell you how much it would cost.
