I'm 25 and have been on propecia 1mg and minoxidil 5% for five years. I've been able to maintain almost a full head of hair. At the beginning of the year, I noticed that my temple had receded a little and were thinning a bit farther back, so I started using minoxidil 5% twice a day again, which I had stopped doing for around two years. It helped. I also started on nizoral 2% as a preventative measure because of what I've read on this site, but it irritated the heck out of my scalp and I shed a of couple hairs along the hairline.
I bought some of Dr. Lee's 5% cream and use that twice a day along my hairline and temples. I also invested in folligen and use that twice a day. I started using t-gel shampoo and conditioner once a day last week, and all I've gotta say is, why didn't I start using this damn shampoo a long time ago. I mean they used it in the propecia studies, not nizoral. The t-gel has relieved me of scalp problems. By the way, the nizoral 1% was too harsh for my scalp, too.
Anyway, if I feel that the propecia's effects may be waning a bit, what else can I do to maintain my hair. I don't want to risk the shed with Dr lee's 15% minoxidil, and avodart scares me a bit. I have, however, read someone's post here that stated that they felt propecia's effects waning after two years, so they bumped up the dose to 2mg a day, and experienced a halt in shedding. Does anyone have any comment on any of the above statements?
