I started propecia 2 weeks ago and my hair is shedding - on the pillow - on my clothes. Is it normal or possible to shed this early on propecia? Please reassure me somebody who shed this early on propecia - thanks

I have never heard of someone shedding that quickly. I believe the most common time to shed is Month 3 or so.

I am not a big person meaning that I am slim, so 1mg may be too high a dosage for my body. Maybe I should decrease my dosage to 0.5mg ?

Also I have got a really bad itch on the top of my head - i never had this itch before finasteride!

I don't think you are taking too much. 1mg is the normal dose. I always thought that shedding wasn't that common with finasteride because of how slowly it works. Based on what you wrote about itching I'm guessing that you are, for some strange reason, reacting unusually to the finasteride. It may be causing some type of allergic / inflammation response. You should maybe consider another anti-DHT / 5-alpha reductase drug.

Another option you should maybe try first, before switching drugs, is to deal with your immune response. That will help regardless of which drug you're on because part of MPH is auto-immune related. Things you could try:

curcumin (aka tumeric extract)
omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil)

You're not using minoxidil right? That would definitely cause shedding.

Yes, it is possible. I started a massive shed 7 days into finasteride.

I am only on propecia - I washed my hair with nizoral and the itch seems to have gone.

By the way "WEEPY" - when did your shed stop? I dont want to be shedding like this for months!
