Look at my avatar. Notice how the placebo group does not lose much hair in the time that the propecia group is climbing fast? Then right when the propecia group flattens out, that is where the placebo group falls off fast. So if you just graph the difference between the two against time, you would get more of a straight line.
My point is, Proscar and dutasteride regrow more in 6 months than propecia does. Also, the castrated me who did not regrow a noticeable amount of hair, kept their hair line hair, and still had 5% the normal testosterone levels, and probably 10% the normal DHT levels. So I bet dutasteride combined with topical spironolactone might actually regrow a lot more hair than propecia in the long run, despite some interpretations of the castration study. Or at least get you to a peak sooner so finasteride can maintain it.
Bryan, is there any other evidence besides the castration studies that show that true androgen inhibition can't regrow as much hair as minoxidil?
