Well I've decided im going to go get Propecia to try and stop my hairloss. And I was wondering does it block out all DHT? or just the DHT going to your hair folicles. Will taking propecia prevent me from getting my facial hair (im only 18 so I don't yet have a full beard). Also I've read DHT makes muscle tissue, does propecia also stop muscle growth?
Thanks for your reponses guys :)

Propecia probably reduces the activity of your type 2 5a-reductase enzyme by around 85% to 90% or so. It will probably reduce your blood DHT by about 60% to 70%.

It _may_ suppress your facial hair a little, although that effect is variable from person to person, and anecdotes vary quite a bit. I've heard some guys say it had no noticeable effect at all on their body hair.

As for muscle growth, I've heard people brag about the muscle gains they were getting at the gym even while taking dutasteride, and that's even more effective at reducing DHT than finasteride! :)

About what you said Bryan...

I heard from lots of places DHT plays a role in the growth of facial hair, but what type promotes it? I, II, or both?

About muscle growth...I actually thought that was testosterone's job, because DHT has only to do with the skin...
