Has anyone experienced a rash while first taking propecia? I started it about a week ago and a couple days i noticed some small red spots on my neck, other than that i feel fine though. Is this uncommon or what?

Hives are an allergic reaction, but I don't think you have hives especially if they don't itch.

Red spots could be many things. They may just be cherry angiomas. Post an image or go see a dermatologist. Red dots could be either some hereditary thing like a cherry angioma (a small dot), something caused by trauma ( normally called petechiae, which are also small dots and normally harmless), or a sign of illness.

If you don't feel ill, I would normally rule out most rashes or anything really serious, but there may be other things where it could be a symptom. There's a doctor here that may be able to expand my limited knowledge. Either way, you should see a dermatologist if you feel concerned about it.

thanks for the info. Yah i dont feel sick and its been two days since the original post. The rash is localized in two or three spots on my neck still but hasnt spread. two of the spots look like they have gotten lighter and one just about dissapeared. Im really hoping its not the propecia because i really just need to maintain the hair i have and from what i hear propecia is the best at that.
