does taking propecia inhibit weight/muscle gain? ive been on propecia a little while now and have been training real hard down the gym too. I have not noticed any changes really in my body although i really push myself and ache hard, i eat correctly too.
Does propecia have an effect on this due to inhibittng dht which inhibits testosterone?
This is seriously doing me head in now, the only reason i can think of is the propecia, i am contemplating going bald if i can get a decent body!

No one seems to know for sure. Test actually goes up while DHT goes down when on finasteride. Having said that, if you believe my own experience, finasteride inhibits muscle gains and promotes smoothness of muscle tone.

Just my experience.

in that case, is there hormone tablets i can take to maybe increase testosterone levels? or would that f**k up the propecia?

I don't think that is the approach. As I indicated, with finasteride, test. levels tend to increase as DHT goes down. IF finasteride does cause a difficulty in gain muscle mass, it would seem to me that it is the drop in DHT that is the issue.

Thus, increasing T would not necessarily do the trick.

Make sense?

Testosterone itself is the major hormone for muscle growth and gain. Steroids obviously increase testosterone which makes it easy to make gains. So if propecia causes more testosterone to be produced because of a dip in DHT wouldn't it actually help your muscles recuperate quicker therefore allowing you to gain more mass. I noticed some acne since i started propecia, nothing major. But this is probably do to the increase in testosterone because even those guys on steroids also get increased acne too. Probably a whole lot more acne than caused by finasteride. I don't believe it would inhibit muscle growth because i am still making gains at the gym.

I thought Steroids causes hair loss.
So if steroids causes hair loss but mass gain and Propecia doesnt cause hair loss but does cause mass gain.. that means the the mass gain has nothing to do with hair loss or not. But then again that wasnt the question.

Eeeh!

Steroids probably cause hair loss because increased Test means increased dht.

I think it's up in the air how finasteride is going to affect each individual. Some people's bodies seem to be more dependent on dht than others. That's why I'm reluctant to try it. I'm willing to bet dht plays a lot more roles in the body than just making your hair fall out.

I would agree with this statement!

Well i do too, and you guys should keep in mind that DHT is not blocked 100% by propecia. Its somewehre around 67%. I think non male pattern baldness sufferes make less DHT than us anyways.

I don't believe finasteride has adversely affected me, I've lost 24 lbs. by reducing carbs and drinking at least a gallon of water a day in only 2 months, I've been on finasteride for over 3 months, I have better muscle definition and my biceps are still the same size they were 24 lbs ago, and my only workout routine is my job, which is moderately physical, along with my winter bowling league, but I doubt that's puttin the muscle on for me.

I've been on Finasteride 2 years and have gained some weight because of it. I work out, cycle, run and eat healthy. But I still gained the weight.
And no amount of dieting or exercise has helped drop so much as a pound.

Crap!
