Propecia Not Working After 2 Years

Hi Everybody,

I'm a 24 year old male. I started taking propecia 2 years ago when i started to see a little temporal recession and wanted to maintain my hair. Things seemed to be fine for the first year or so, but over the last year and especially the last few months things have gotten a lot worse. There's been signficant temporal recession and generalized thinning on top. I'm going to get on minoxidil ASAP, but i'm not sure if i should give up on the propecia. Am I one of the people for whom it doesn't work? Is there something else I should try?

Help appreciated.

I seem to remember hearing that it's effects can begin to wear over time but I think it's more like 5 years, if it's been working for you up until now I'd say that you may just be going through a bad patch, I'd stick with it if I were you, as you said.. try adding minoxidil to your regimen if the thinning is getting unbearable.

minoxidil won't do anything for your hairloss rate. if u wanna do anything about blocking more DHT and getting more aggressive towards your hairloss, try dutasteride every 3 years. the only problem is the unknown long term side effects.

at least you got 2 years of growth out of it, which is more than some people do. maybe it's a temporary shed, or maybe it's the end of propecia use for you. i hope that everything works out well though. whatever the case is.
