Propecia patent?

Someone below tried to ask the question but the discussion got diverted-- does anyone have any recent info about the propecia patent and when/if generics will be available in the US? I tried to find some info online but couldn't.

I had heard on this forum several months ago that the patent was going to expire in spring 2006 IIRC. I'm also interested in news on that front.
