Propecia same as Finasteride..or so I thought :(

I recentely switched from Propecia 1mg tablete daily to Finasteride 5mg which i cut in 4 and take a quarter daily. I mainly did it because of coast. I started taking Propecia in 2007 and had no side effects whatsoever. After taking Finasteride howecer for a few days my sex drive went down south and couldn't get an erection as in the past. About the same time as I started taking the finasteride I started using the KETOCONAZOLE 2% shampoo.
Anyon had similar side effects from either one of the products mentioned?

Propecia is the same as finasteride, its only the packaging that's different.

Finasteride is the name of the drug, Propecia is the brand name. Same thing.

It sounds like you mean you switched from Propecia to Proscar (or a generic of that)?

thanks for the reply...that gives me piece of mind. i know is the same drug but as i saw saying i noticed side effects such as low sex drive since i switched so maybe it has nothing to do with the medication since is the same one (although the color is different), right?

well...you're taking more of the drug. 1 instead of 1.25

Some people may be sensitive to such a change.

that's probabely it...i don't think Nizoral 2% shampoo, which i started at the same time i did the switch has anything to do with it. my doctor said something about the fact that the shampoo can be bad for the liver it taken for long preiods of time. did you hear anything about that?
