Hi guys, first time poster.

Been on propecia for 6 weeks and have just started to see that it is working I think however have also noticed that my libido has decreased and erection strength decreased too and watery seaman. First real signs of 'side effects'

I am effectively taking propecia a few months before I get a hair transplant but am thinking weather or not I want to continue with this especially as I will have to if I get the transplant!

Is this likely to clear up or subside or is it something I will have to live with if I continue/ stop?

Cheers!

There was a 5 year study on propecia done that shows side effects after year 1 drop down to nearly the EXACT same levels as those taking placebos.

So, if your side effects aren't unbearable, I would stick with it. Here's the thing...if you're worried about long-term side effects, then that boat sailed the minute you started finasteride, so you're not hurting anything by trying to stick it out. Go to your local supermarket and get a generic men's multivitamin (like Centrum) and some Zinc. Take the multivitamin daily, and the zinc (50mg) every other day. Zinc is a natural aromatase inhibitor, which will help to boost your testesterone.

Also, I wouldn't worry about watery semen. I've had it for 7 years and it hasn't affected anything.

Long-term side effects seem to effect an EXTREMELY MINOR group of people, even if they were only on it for 2 weeks (although I find it REALLY hard to believe that just finasteride is to blame for that). So, basically you're in too deep if you're going to have long term sides. However, DO NOT WORRY OR FREAK OUT. Seriously, I can not stress this enough. If you worry, you're going to keep looking for something and then you're going to find SOMETHING to freak out about and convince yourself that you have side effects. If you get side effects, there is about a 99% chance that you're going to be just fine if you stop finasteride, so don't worry.

Here's what I mean about how worrying will cause you to CONVINCE yourself that you have a problem, even if there's nothing. Just read these 5 stories about mass panics.

"In 2009, a strange smell began wafting through a Fort Worth call center that someone quickly recognized as a poisonous carbon monoxide leak. Soon, people started dropping like flies from chest pains, headaches, dizziness and breathing difficulties. The building was evacuated, and at the end of the day, 34 people were hospitalized and another 110 treated at the scene. The only problem was there was no gas leak to be found, and there were no abnormal traces of carbon monoxide in the air. Also, carbon monoxide is odorless.

Eventually, someone worked out that the strange odor that people were complaining about was ... perfume.

Your mind is an EXTREMELY powerful tool. Don't let it take over your life.

I was on 8 months before the sides really hit me. I can no longer use it.
Watery semen and lower erections hit me for the first sides as well. They say most pass but just be careful.
I will say don't listen to others saying one time taking you are in to deep. I went off and on 3 times and each time it got progressively worse to recover so I believe you can obviously push your body to far where you could have recovered if stopping.

I say go ahead a bit further. Lower the dosage if you can. Many guys say they successfully take finasteride like every other or 4 days with results and no sides.

I have thought about this but honeslty fpor the first time in about 6 months (recovery) I JUST sat on my balls. Where this might bother some I sighed a sigh of relief.
