Hi all!

I have been reading this forum for years and this is my firs time posting. I noticed myself starting to loose hair over the summer of 2005 (I was 20 at the time) I finally went on propecia in january 2006 (as well as nizoral). It is now 3 years later and the propecia has pretty much maintained my hair level, the problem is I have been suffering the side effect of a low sex drive and have had weaker erections due to it. I had experimented and went off propecia for about 6 months, it took about 3 months for my full sexual health to kick back in and then i started to notice more and more hair-loss, 3 months later I went back on the propecia.
I am now at the point where I am sick of the side affects and want off of propecia, so I am looking to just maintain what I have, no re-growth is needed.
I was looking at s5 cream and maybe even a laser comb. Would s5 cream be sufficient? I have longer shaggy hair, so it might be a pain to apply, any thoughts on this?

Any help from this community would be greatly appreciated, I can't believe i have been a silent member for over three years!

Thanks for everything.

oh attached is a pic of what im trying to maintain, and im wondering how hard the application of cream would be.

Considering you don't even have hairloss judging by that photo, not sure why you need to do anything.

there has been a LOT of recession there, luckily i caught it early and maintained, but the hair has thinned a lot in the middle. that photo was just to gauge how difficult it would be to put cream, if i did one of those hair pulled back and wet it would be more noticeable. your comment makes me feel better though :) thanks.

Recession... Jude Law has recession:

Looking at your photo, I don't see any recession there.

Personally I think you are overreacting, and the Finasteride useage and side effects were probably unnecessary, but I guess if you come off you'll find out if the drug was making any difference in your hairline.

Good luck!

thanks for the kind words (great pic of jude law, haha), and yah im definitely getting off propecia, I think i will stop taking today. Before i started on it within 6 months my hairline had recessed in the middle by about 1.5cm and every male on my mothers side of the family went bald in their mid 20's (im now 24) so i have been watching for it.
I think i will start on the sp5 cream, can't hurt, right?

Don't listen to Mew :jackit:

I think spironolactone by itself might be a little weak to maintain. Have you thought about using minoxidil foam along with Nizoral 1 or 2% shampoo and maybe Eucapil or Fluridil as it's known if you got deep pockets?

hey thanks for the response!

yah I am already on nizoral and I think im going to go with dr. lee's spironolactone cream. As for the minoxidil foam, I was thinking about it, but since that concentrates more on re-growth i thought i would see how much more i loose. as for the fluridil i have just started doing research on it, and it might be an option once i have more $$$. Have you used it?
