Propecia worries

Ok, I'm new to this whole thing, but I have a couple of questions. I hope somebody can help me out.
I'm 23 and I am seriously beginning to worry about my thinning, especially in the front and temple areas. I guess it begun around 3 years ago, but very lightly at that point, so I got minoxidil about a year and a half ago and it has worked pretty well up untill now. I have no problem in the vertex area at all and maybe untill 3 months ago I wasn't really worried about my hairline, but now it is beginning to get pretty bad.
So I went to my doctor and got propecia about three weeks ago. I used it for about 4 days, and pretty much imediately (second day) I got a really bad testicular ache, and the rest of the groin area was quite sore too. I freaked out and I stopped it right away. It is almost two weeks ago, and my balls still kind of ache every now and then. I know it is a somewhat common sideeffect, but to me the fact that it hit me so hard and so fast makes me wonder if I am hypersensitive to the finasterid. And if I am does it mean that:

1 I am more inclined to getting sides (since I got one so fast, and pretty bad)?

or

2 I am a good responder? Since my body is reacting so strongly to it?

To be honest it freaks me out to put something in my body that so obviously manipulates with my hormones in such a powerful manner. I know that something powerful is necessary to reverse hairloss, but is there any reason to believe that a topical DHT inhibitor could work as well as finasteride?? I have been thinking about getting spironolactone, but I have no idea how effective it is.
(at minoxidil.com it says that spironolactone with minoxidil could work as well as minoxidil+finasteride, but as they are selling the stuff it is of course kinda hard to believe).

Any advice is greatly appreciated.!
Thanks

anybody? Guess not...

ok let me rephrase my post. The part of being either a good responder or just more likely to get sides was mostly out of curiosity. The other part of my post I would really like a reply for.
What is perceived to be the most powerful topical dht inhibitor. I am already on minoxidil, but would like to add something that attacks the root of the problem. So should I go for a dht inhibitor or is there something else that can help topically?
Spino (?), xandrox, revivogen???

stick with the finasteride for a few weeks and see if it goes away (it usually does). Sides do not indicate a good responder.

Ok, let's say I decide not to go back on finasteride even though it seems to be the most potent treatment available. But to be honest I am a pussy about it and is really scared of the possible sides. That fear alone will drive me crazy if I get back on it.

So if adding something topical to my minoxidil, should it be xandrox, spironolactone or maybe eucapil??? Can all of these potentially protect the follicles in a similar way to finasterid? Or in any other way, i don't really care as long as I can keep my hair :D
