Ive been on rogaine for almost 2 months now. Prior to rogaine treatments i was a heavy shedder, I also use to pinch and pull my hairs out to see how many i could pull out and on average id pull out 2-3 hairs each pull. Anyways after the rogaine treatment I only shed short and thin hairs (maybe 4-5 in the shower as oppose to >20) and when i pinch and pull i get 0 hairs (this has been going for 1.5 months).

im not shedding as much so is there any point in propecia right now?

the reason why i ask is because i dont want any sides and ive read that propecia deteriorates the frontal hair line which is not something i want...

If you feel good about things without propecia, by all means stay off of it.

That said, just because you don't notice shedding as much doesnt mean a whole lot. Counting hairs is useless anyway, since you can shed every hair on your head and be OK as long as it keeps growing back. You can shed very little, but if those hairs are gone for good or the miniaturization process keeps marching on, you're still going bald no matter how you slice it.

My advice would be to keep an eye on things (I'm sure you will anyway), and if you see male pattern baldness advancing, then re-think your hesitation about Propecia. Rogaine is great for regrowth and may be all some people need (though almost always it wont be, while Propecia is quite frequently all a lot of people need), but if your body is still producing DHT and its still attacking your follicles, Rogaine will not solve this.

I'm on Propecia right now primarily to stop hairline and temple loss...2 months in. Feel free to follow my progress if you want another anecdotal account of what it does to the hairline.

my advice would be to get on it now and find our for yourself, everyones different and you don't know how propecia will affect you until you've taken it yourself. If you get the sides then drop it if you don't then you've got another warrior to fight your battle of hairl oss because rogaine alone will not do it, it may give you a bit of a break but your hair loss will come back full force unless you get on something internal.
