whats the deal with these websites that are hellbent on bashing the sh*t out of propecia? Are they legit or what? Ive heard some horror stories from them. One guy claimed that his face started getting saggy and even after stopping it for several months he had no sex drive at all. Are these websites for real?

heh this has been discussed many times over and over, so do a search on here to read more.

in short, my opinion is: most of the people on there are exaggerating hypochondriac loons. Somewhere, there's probably a forum just like that for cough mixture full of the same whiney people.

ya i hear ya. I figured there was something up with this one guy in particular, he wrote like a book report of his side effects on propecia and his struggles after he got off. I mean i thought once you got off, the sides tend to dissapear. Seems like a lot of this stuff was in his head

i just want to research it as much as i possibly can, which i guess leads to a million different opinions. I hear a lot of positive stuff about propecia, except for the sexual sides, which im well aware of. Its not the sexual sides that scare me, simply because they are well documented. Its those "secondary sides" that seem to come out of nowhere, like the sagging face and eyedrooping and stuff like that. But as for the forums, id rather consult a forum than some random website that usually has a hidden agenda. Its really tough to discern the real sites from the fake ones and i feel a forum with accomplished posters like this one has gets me more non-bias answers.

Propeciahelp.com doesn't have a hidden agenda, it is a forum to try and piece together how the drug affected those with side effects and how to try and recover from them. Obviously those that are on the site have disdain for the drug, because since quitting the side effects did not resolve, contrary to Merck's claims.

The site is meant to give you a fuller perspective on what the potential impact of the drug may be to your health, so you can weigh the pros and cons. The studies on that website are not opinions, they are fact. You are encouraged to read them and make up your own mind wether you want to take the drug or not, nobody is forcing you to... just be informed about the potential risk, however small.

I should know, I am one of these men that still has physical/sexual side effects 20 months off the drug. Physical changes to one's body are not in one's head, for one.

Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide to do. If I could take Finasteride without issue, I would. Unfortunately I paid a high price and found out the hard way that not everything is as we are told by the drug's manufacturer... hopefully you don't meet the same fate or you'll be looking for answers like the rest of us.

Cheers.

Oh but they can be, dearest Mew. For example, there was a guy on here who experienced diminished libido and enlarged breast tissue after taking something like 0.25mg finasteride every three days for ... 12 days. Obviously, it's bullshit, but he believed it - just like you believe yours.

I originally was in the same boat, laughing at people who was just exaggerating sides.

I was on it for four months and suddenly my libido was hit. Before that I actually felt a rise in libido and I was loving it.

Been off it for a week, and its back to normal.

So definitely don't think you can't recover.

It's worth the try, to make sure you are in the majority of people that can tolerate it.

yeah, i don't doubt that side effects do exist. But they exist in a small proportion of users, and disappear once you cease taking the drug.
