That issue has been hotly discussed for years on hairloss sites! I think it's beyond any reasonable doubt that the finasteride in the tablets is evenly distributed.
Well, there's no "hard evidence", because Merck certainly isn't going to discuss the exact details of how they go about making their tablets. But it seems ridiculous to me that a drug company would DELIBERATELY go to the trouble and expense of producing tablets which had an uneven distribution of the active ingredient. It makes no sense to me at all. I think it's sheer paranoia to believe that might actually happen.
I agree with Bryan, but I really don't think it would matter anyway.
If due to 0.25mg doing its job almost aswell as 1.25mg, and it proven to be safe to take up to 80mg a day. And with finasteride doing its job even when used every other day.
As long as you're taking 5mg over 5 days/4days...
I don't think it would matter even if you ended up accidently taking...
Day 1 :- 0.2mg
Day 2:- 2mg
Day 3:- 0mg
Day 4:- 1.25mg
Day 5:- 1.55mg.
etc. Unless all 5mg were contained in say, 1/20 of the pill.
My doctor also said you really don't need to be accurate about cutting it into even doses.
