I got proscar and split it into fourths, I am going to take 1.25mg for 4 days and then take the 5th day off. Problem is when splitting this sh*t which is very hard to do I could not get equal doses some pieces are bigger than others- So in theory is it bad to take a 1.6mg piece one day and a .85mg piece the next? Shouldn't be as long as your only getting 5mg total for 5 days right??? I want to save money but it seems impossible to get this stuff at exactly 1.25mg per piece- I think Merck did that on purpose.

No worries bro. It doesn't matter at all. Before you know it, you will be able to cut 3 weeks worth in 30 seconds. Just push down on the razor fast. The faster the cleaner it cuts.

Yeah sorry, In-Valid is right.

I didn't make myself clear. I meant taking it every day for 7 days and being off by a few mcg is no big deal with the recommended 1mg dose.

Cutting it into 4ths and taking one everyday is more than likely going to net you a very little over 1mg.

I thought proscar WAS generic finasteride...?

As to the cutting, I currently cut proscar into 1/5, I make the first cut using a razor blad, then use a pill cutter to cut the remaining piece in 1/4's - I can get it pretty much even now.

I have asked before about not cutting pieces into equal sizes, I think the general concensus was that it isn't going to really make much difference to your regimen if they are slightly different sizes.

Cutting proscar into 1/4 with a pill cutter should be no problem

My idea of cutting it into fourths came from a medical doctor who suggested it on a web site. It is consistently in your sytem and if you add up 1.25mg x 4 days it comes out to 5mg or 5 days worth that will be in your system. That is why you take the fifth day off. You do not have to take Proscar every day to get its effects, Bruce Lee took it every other day and it worked great for him. Its the amount you have in your system that matters, or so I'm Told.

Taking 1.25 mg/day and the 5th day off is a fine idea Redbone. It really shouldn't affect the effectiveness of the drug and it abides by the old pharmaceutical proverb that slightly changing your dosage prevents your body from building an immunity.

Try this for a half-year and if you notice it is not working well, switch to Propecia for a a half-year and measure the difference.

To nearly perfectly measure out and take 1mg of proscar a day is simple. Alcohol is the answer. Take a regular 5mg pill of proscar and simply disolve it into 5oz. of your favorite liquor(eg.rum, vodka, etc..). Then take just drink one ounce of it a day. Simply. And for the guys that like to drink a little more, mix it with 10oz. of liquor and drink 2oz. a dose. Metric guys, use mL.

I just got 90 pills of 1 mg of Propecia. Is 1mg the daily dosage?
Or shall I split that into 1/4 like u guys do and take 1/4 (.25mg) per day?
Whats effective? Oh is .25mg better than 1mg? Or how how is 1mg better than .25mg a day ? Somebody pls answers this. Thanks

Take a full 1mg dose everyday. The guys on this website split PROSCAR. PROSCAR is 5mg of finasteride per dose. The guys on Proscar split it into 1/5's. 1/5 of a proscar has 1mg of finasteride. And due to the odd and small shape of the pill, many just split it into 1/4's.
