Puffy nipples/Gynecomastia

I've been on finasteride (finpecia 1mg/day) for around 10 months now and around a month ago I have noticed a puffy left nipple accompanied by soreness and a ball-like substance under the nipple. I'm guessing this could be down to high estrogen levels?

My question is to those who have had the same or similar experience, did this go away with continuing on finasteride or discontinuing finasteride or not at all?

that does sound like a symptom of gyno. I would go see a doctor and tell him you're taking finasteride

What are the solutions to this besides discontinuing the drug? Are there estrogen blockers? (I took noticed my chest has gotten more puffy in general... not good)

The first thing to do is talk to a doctor. He's MUCH more able to answer your questions. Yes, there are estrogen blockers out there, but talk to your doctor first.

finasteride causes gyno in little less than 1% of users, and that sounds like it's what you have. There are topical estrogen blockers that will probably help unless you have had the gyno for more than a couple years. At that point, it's more or less permanent unless you get surgery.

Definitely talk with your doctor. You may or may not have to stop finasteride. Keep in mind that finasteride only raises estrogen levels marginally, so there is a good chance you might have gotten it anyway in a couple years. Also there are lifestyle changes you can make to naturally lower your levels. Cutting out excessive soy, alcohol, marijuana, and most of all, lose weight if you are overweight.

Ask you doctor for an aromatization inhibitor (AI).

Letrozol, Aromasin or Armidex

If it's strong gyno try combing with Tamoxifene or Raloxifene

I was on finasteride for about 3-4months, I too developed puffy nipples/pain around that area and thought that I would get really bad gyno, I didn't in the end because I quit. But I have to let you know that even though I haven't touched finasteride for about 6 months my nipples have stayed exactly the same.

I also started noticing temporary sensitivity in my nipples and an increase and/or change in the shape of my nipples about 4 months in on finasteride.

I want to try to get an ultrasound to confirm what's going on. Any recommendations?
