I've been on proscar for about 15 months now. Hair has gotten slightly worse. I've now run out of proscar, but I dont wanna drop it just yet eventho it doesnt seem to be working for me.

Question nr1: How do you think it would affect my hair if I went from 1.25mg/day to 0.5mg/day. I want to see if I can get rid of some of the side effects.

Question nr2: I found the following pills: http://elitenetpharmacy.com/pd_finpecia.cfm Do they seem legit or am I better off buying the real thing, proscar (dont even wanna think about splitting it in 8ths) or propecia?

Also thinking about starting 5% minoxidil, but I'm reluctant. It's another lifelong comittment.

To answer question NR2, i'll copy and paste what I wrote from another thread:

"FINCAR and FINPECIA are both real drugs, yes. Just like Air Jordans are a real sneaker. But with regard to FINCAR and FINPECIA, you may be getting a counterfeit drug from an overseas pharmacy. It is true that Fincar and Finpecia don't cost as much to make so there is not as much of a financial incentive to counterfeit them as there is for Merck brand products, but you also don't know that the drug contains 1 MG or 5 MG of finasteride, respectively. The Indian pharmaceutical regulations are much less strict than the US laws from what I hear. And the drugs can still be fake.

if you are a US citizen, and want to make 100% sure that your finasteride is authentic, it must be bought from a US pharmacy. A year's supply of Propecia runs around 700, while a year's supply of Proscar(cutting in fourths) runs around 300. Less if you cut it in fifths. Yes that is more expensive than Fincar but you are also guaranteeing that the drug you get is real.

I did order some Merck Proscar from EliteNetPharmacy but Have no way of guaranteeing that the drug is real. Even if collegechemistrystudent tests a batch of it then that doesn't guarantee that future batches will be real.

So, again, if you want to guarantee that your finasteride is genuine, it has to be bought from a US pharmacy. And buying Merck Proscar or Propecia from overseas is no guarantee that it is not counterfeit. Some of the fakes look really similar to the genuine pills and there are plenty of the fakes out there.

I'm not going to risk my hair over it. I'd rather my wallet take a tiny additional hit. But it's up to you."

judging from the username, i'd say that user is not hiding the fact that it is just an ad.

it is OK for companies to come on here using their URL as a username and answering quetions. biophysica and elitenetpharmacy have done that. i think mensrxshop is crossing the line, though at least not starting a new thread.

0.5 mg should maintain 90% of what the 1.25 mg did. that is a guestimate from other info i have. why not cut it in 8ths? you don't have to be accurate. you can even take 1/4 EOD.
