question about GEL use

this question was probably asked a million times,

does hair gel have any effect on hair? does it damage it? its a pretty strong gel, with a powerful holding structure which i use every other day. i've been experiencing hair loss for couple of years now and certainly do not want to speed up the process by the gel use...

i've also read that some people loose more hair by just showering and brushing through their hair while washing, how true is it? is there any specific type of shampoo men with hair loss should use???

any kind of advice will be apreciated!

hair gel wont make you lose hair. Just make sure you wash it out. People loosing hair should use nizoral shampoo.... Goodluck

I've always been consious of the fact that baldness ran in my family so even when I was a teenager I never used products on my hair for fear that it could damage it. I still began m.p.b at 19 and went on to lose my hair so the answer is no gel wont cause hairloss.
Don't know if you've noticed but many of the people with the best heads of hair are the ones who make the most of it by having extravagant styles, dyeing it, bleaching it, using loads of gel, wax etc.
If you're going to lose it geneticaly, outside influences like hair products wont really make any difference. And if you've got great hair genes you can do pretty much whatever you want to your hair and it's not going to fall out.

I strongly reccomend products like Redken Rewind and Matrix by Biolage. These are very creamy pomades that give you a very similar effect to gel but they wash off leaving your hair feel very silky and smooth. I rarely ever use gels or blow dryers, only when I'm doing a crazy complicated style where I need extra hold.

So what you are trying to say is that hair gel can accelerate male pattern baldness? I am confused by now :freaked2:

I've never seen a woman go bald from using Mousse/Hairspray/Hair Dye/Gel etc etc.

Just my 0.02 cents
