I am a very fortunate NW1.5 but have been diffusing and shedding a lot over the last three years. Doctor said that I’m at about 50% density from 2017. Before the shedding began I had thick black dense hair and zero indication of male pattern baldness at 40.

I have been using topical Finasteride 1% for 2 years. Shedding continues but maybe I’ve been maintaining in photos though it feel thin and the shedding is hard to deal with?

I had sides on both attempts on Propecia. DHT has never changed. To buffer the sides from even the topcial Finasteride my endo has me on a very low dose HCG to keep up LH and fertility.

I dropped the HCG in February. Since then my hair has gone even more brittle, has begun to turn grey and the thinning, once heaviest at the crown/vertex has now raped the hairline and temples.

Could the extra T from HCG been beneficial to my hair? Could be it a question of the T/Estrogen dynamic? Is it an indication that my miniaturization isn’t all male pattern baldness. I had a biopsy 2 years ago that showed male pattern baldness.

thanks for the input.

If anything I was concerned HCG was limiting the effectiveness of the Finasteride. male pattern baldness is so confusing.

Can't add much, but there is a study on women with PCOS who received testosterone treatment and their hair recovered. So it isn't always T's fault. Hair loss is very complex..

Are you sure your DHT levels didn't change?

Btw, from the pics I don't see any diffuse thinning.

The thinning has been a big change from baseline but I still have a full head, just worried about the speed and annoyed by the 300 hair showers. Overall I know I’ve thinner some age some AA some hormone or thyroid related.

the HCG did help my sides, T didn’t spike but semen recovered and my libido returned. Still some depression about an hour after a dose.

Pal look at my profile, I’ve lost almost all my hair in 3 years and I’m 28, I honestly wish I had half of your hair, I know you think your hair is bad but I actually don’t think you have male pattern baldness,
