i just got some 5% minoxidil from CVS and on the side it says that it only works for hairloss in the back of the head, or vertex, as they call it. well, i thought that it could be used for receding hairlines (which is wut i got) but it says otherwise. sorry i'm a newb, but im nervous... i need some regrowth in the front badly!!!

If you're just starting to lose your hair, propecia by itself should work fine for you, along with Nizoral shampoo.

However you do retain the option to try Rogaine by itself. It doesn't have the % effectiveness that Propecia does and we typically recommend it for those seriously in need of restoring lost hair, not those just starting to thin on the hairline ... but you can give it a try.

It works *best* on the top and back of the head, and was only tested there in the FDA trials, so they were only allowed to report that it works there, on the box.

Make sure you get Nizoral shampoo and use it once every 3 days, and expect your hair to look worse before it looks better. Rogaine can cause shedding that can last a few months. Ride it out. Use Folligen lotion to handle any irritation you may get from the Rogaine.

Hey

Minoxidil can work on the hairline. The reason they say it is only found effective on the vertex is because that is the only place it was tested on in the trials, therefore that is the only place they can claim it works. Many people here can tell you it had a positive effect on their hairline. The only thing to keep in mind is that the hairline is often the hardest to get results.

sounds good! thanx for the feedback. i'm opting not to use propecia, since i already have a prostate problem to deal with. instead, i think i will be using fluridil. but i'll defintely get some of that nizoral. thanx

Minoxidil had done WONDERS for my hairline/temples, they aren't perfect, but after 4 months of minoxidil i couldn't have expected better results.

Be prepared for a small/moderate shed within the first 4 weeks of use, after that, hopefully you should get some regrowth within the first 6 months or so.

I use the dropper & apply to temples & frontal area. 1 bottle lasts a month.
