You apply Dermmatch right on your scalp, instead of in your hair like Toppik. Then when you brush or comb through your hair right away after putting it(Dermmatch) on, some adheres to your hair too, making it look thicker while it still is coloring your scalp to hide the balding areas.
Since you just sprinkle Toppik on your hair, I don't think you get enough on to really cover your scalp in the way that Dermmatch does. And since Toppik is looser, when you comb through, you are going to just be removing most of it, so that is why you get comb marks on your scalp. I guess.
I think that's why they tell you to style your hair before you add Toppik. Dermmatch you can comb through anytime.
